Motivation thread

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 2:46 pm

Since there is tons of im lazy threads and other negative ones I thought I would counter them with some positivity.
Give the random strangers on this forum some motivating words like "what do you live for" or "back in my day you would get a boot up your ass!".

Everyone around you would be better off if you where never born.... but remeber, there is one life that you have managed to improve.

Your own.

When things get very tough, remember, you will die one day and everything you have done is for naught.

Really helps me get through examination periods. :P

This is not true, if you have a job then everything you do is for society and the people you leave behind/future generations. All the amazing stuff we have today is the result of our ancestors working their asses off. No matter how trivial your job may seem it is still vital in evolution of society.

That's from my own POV. Once I die nothing matters.

Anyway, it's just a joke. Don't listen to me.

If you don't do the washing up today, there'll be a bigger pile of washing up to do tomorrow and you'll have cooked your dinner in a messy kitchen to boot.

Yeah, so today I'm doing the washing up...

Happens to me a lot as well. :)

Hm...how about...it's always darkest before the dawn! Yes, I'm so original! ..... j/k

More seriously...I'm not a sage full of wisdom. I just try not to be overly negative/focus on negative, and if I start to feel myself becoming so, I hug a cat.

Depends on your view point. Personally I would rather my current lifestyle than other more "fun" ones.

Life is like a box of chocolates.

Death is like a fat kid.

Wait, I think I'm doing this wrong.

Your accomplishments are meaningless in the face of your own self worth as a person. Be kind and generous and you can live through life proudly, even if you haven't gained as much material wealth or popularity as the next man, and especially if he did it through questionable means.

So it doesn't matter how skilled, smart or strong you are. You can always lead a life you can be proud of and there is nothing that can stop you from accomplishing that but you yourself.

Corny I know but I've long accepted there is no way to get this point across that isn't corny.

"Worth before wealth" seems to summarize it, and sounds pretty catchy to boot.

That is either very wise or complete and utter nonsense. The line between profundity and hogwash is damn fine.

Well it's amazing what people with strong will can accomplish. Just look at Stephen Hawking for example. He can hardly do anything but he does have his mind, and he's used it to do great things, he's certainly accomplished much more than many other people have even in his state.

Perhaps it depends on the situation but basically if you have enough will to do something great then with even the smallest amount of options, if you use them right you can do great things.

It is well known that a vital ingredient of success is not knowing that what you're attempting can't be done. A person ignorant of the possibility of failure can be a halfbrick in the path of the bicycle of history.
