Mounts; Don't make them RW currency only to purchase.

Post » Thu Jan 10, 2013 3:59 am

Lets face it, whenever the word 'Mounts' is said, WoW comes to mind. And why shouldn't it? They basically coined the name, but what Blizzard is also very good at is stealing your coin. That feeling whilst your slowly running around and you see some other guy riding on his giant triceratops because he forked out $25 for some in-game mount; that's just crap. So, my idea is that you have different versions of these 'mounts'. Okay, nobody wants to admit it but there is most likely going to be subscription fee's. Bethesda are still a company, and they need revenue. Buy the should incorporate the idea of having in-game money 'mounts', may they be a bit lesser in speed or what not. And 'mounts' for those who only have a job so they can support there Cheetos addiction and Subscription fee needs. I personally, hate the idea of forking out $100 AUD for a game that will most likely require monthly fees; but the idea of not being able to ride an elephant because I'm too much of a stingy person is just stupid. Bethesda, Zeni-Max, whoever... they simply need to make it so decent 'mounts' aren't RW currency only. - Rant Over

Well, they didn't 'coin' the name of mounts, but when you mention the word; WoW usually comes to mind. Yes i know every other MMO has them; SWTOR, WoW, GW, etc. But what I'm getting at is that I am hoping Zenimax don't fall for the usual 'cash-cow' aspect of creating games, which Blizzard are VERY good at.

I think the more relevant point is he does not want to see a mounts sold for real money. Personally I would not hold your breath. Vanity items are big cash makes and Zmax is going to want to make a lot of cash/

EQ had mounts years before WOW came out but when i think of mounts i think of the 50+ different mounts you get in Vanguard. At level ten you can buy a mount or do the diplomacy quests and earn a free mount. Then at level 20 you can buy a better mount but at level 24 you can start your epic mount quests or start collection faction coins for anyone of the different faction mounts by killing named bosses.

If you don't want to do the faction mount coins or epic mount quests you can just keep buying a better mount every ten levels, they are horses or camels.

The racial mounts are http://www.kayoss.net/vgmounts.htm these are just the racial mounts.

Also this does not include the numerous flying mounts which are hard to get but if you put the work in you can.

Yeah i think of Vanguard when i talk about MMO mounts.

Soon as you said that I think of that interview where the pretty girl is asking a question from email or facebook or twitter, I foget the source now, about dragon mounts, and she was so quick to point out, "that is not my question!" lol

Thank you Wyattbw09, that is my exact point. And like you mentioned, Zenimax will most likely make you pay for these ingame horsies... These are the new kids on the block and they will be wanting to make as much dosh as they can in the smallest amount of time. Lets all just hope there website wont be as hopeless and buggy as SWTORs website.

Actually on the Development FAQ it said that there will be horses, no "BIG [censored] BIRD" or anything like that.

I'm pretty sure Zenimax won't make us pay dollars for a stallion

WoW coined the word 'mount' like a well-know company coined the word 'apple'. They wish they did.

Yes, they don't 'Own' the name, but when ever its mentioned they are the first to be though of. Blizzard don't own the name 'mount' but you basically always think of it whenever mentioned, and same goes with Apple.
