Mouse doesn't seem to lock to the game in fullscreen

Post » Tue May 22, 2012 4:33 am

I've got a dual screen setup and I play fullscreen, but if my mouse wanders over to the other screen and I click on something or hit a key it causes the game to minimize. This can get pretty irritating if I'm mid-battle, since my other monitor is to the right. Some of my other friends who also have a dual screen setup don't seem to have this problem, but I think I know what the difference is: I have my mouse set to focus on mouse-over. That's a setting that most people don't use and I can't live without. Also playing in windowed mode is a non-option for me and I would prefer to not change my monitor position settings just to play this.

I've looked around to see if there were any other threads about this but I didn't see anything. Anyway, if nothing else does anyone at least know a way around this for now?

i have the same issues also. the best way to combat the issue is by disabling your second monitor while you play.

but what i do is play full screen windowed mode. using the native resolution of the monitor it is on then use a autohotkey script to move the skyrim window so it fits like a full screen game. the added benefit its there is no minimizing and no crashing when what you describe occurs.

If i remember correct i found the script on Skyrim nexus. and you just have to download autohotkey.

though what is good about autohotkey is that you can compile the script into an exe then put it in your start up folder (because having the script running does not affect other applications in any way) then when you play skyrim in windowed mode it will move the window about 5 seconds after you launch it.

another reason i play windowed mode is i usually am alt tabbing to check IMs or load news or even load skyrim wiki to get information on certain things. and alt tabbing from a full screen game can cause it to crash. where as alt tabbing from a window does not.

Hrm,

You might try opening SkyrimPrefs.ini which is located in My Documents\My Games\Skyrim\

There should be a line in there somewhere that sets "iSize H" and "iSize W". I play Skyrim on 3 Screens and I had to fiddle with these values to get eyefinity working. I understand your not playing on both your monitors but I know skyrim doesn't normally set these values correctly.

nm, the following code seemed to be a way to implement borderless windows.

Also found something that might be helpful here...
Players using windowed mode should add these lines to the ini:iLocation X=0iLocation Y=0You can then change the values to offset where the window should be from the top-left corner. This setting was present in the Oblivion.ini, yet is strangely missing from Skyrim.ini.If you want the window to be in the exact center of the screen you should set the coordinates to your desktop resolution minus your gameplay resolution and divide that by 2.http://www.gamefront.com/how-to-improve-skyrim-with-ini-file-tweaks/

I dont think its required for you to be in windowed mode for that change, but it is probably a good Idea for Skyrim to know where the window bounds are.

Borderless windowed mode might be alright if it lines up the game with the monitor properly, but I would still prefer to just lock the mouse in the game. Why doesn't it lock by default in fullscreen, anyway? That doesn't make sense to me.
