Much to easy fights

Post » Thu Aug 21, 2008 11:06 pm

Hi!

I'm playing FONV at hardcoe mode (played and loved FO3 before) and all fights are like cakewalks.

My character (sniper type) is currently lvl 10 and is using a scoped Varmint rifle.

All battles go by way too fast and the enemies drop like flies... even the named Fiends I had to hunt for one guy at the NCR camp south of New Vegas were no match and showed very little resistance.

Most of the time I don't even get hurt much by the enemies. Their tactics are lacking (they don't like to stay behind cover) and most of the time they just rush at me, while shooting here and there.

Are there any mods that drastically increase the difficulty of the fights?

Thanks! :)

hardcoe mode is a completely seperate entity to the games difficulty slider. As you can play hardcoe on very easy if you so desired, or even very hard.

At a guess, I'm presuming you may not have altered the games actual difficulty from it's default setting.

Just dont understand people who manage to lose their time bragging about the game being too easy. Just ramp up the difficulty, play with worse weapons, get some mods(that increase difficulty).

Gimp your character stat-wise. If you don't want to reroll, get addicted to everything and don't cure it.

You could try using weapon types you are weak with. So if you have high guns skill, use energy weapons.

Although it is true, it wont solve his problem (in the long run).

And if you are smart and have a high sneak skill you can just kill them 1 by 1. :goodjob:

Hi, there is your problem, although a fun build it's also the most powerfull.

A few things to try without starting fresh.
If you tagged sneak just ignore it from now on ( except a few times I must add ), when you enter a fight go in bold and take on multipules.
Don't allways crouch to shoot, even at long ranges, give your foes a chance and improve your aim at the same time.
What are you wearing ( sounds dirty ), just wear some non DT clothing, or if you go armour take metal as not sneaking and heavy metal makes you a slow obvious target.
Don't take drugs.
Use one - three weapons only, and not a silenced one.
If you like to snipe try out the service rifle as it's RoF is not as good as many rifles / lever action guns and less accurate, but still fun to use imo, with the same dam as a varmit.
Don't heal during combat.

On a new buid, lower your toughness and strength to 3<, limiting weight allowence, weapon handling and health, at level 7 I had my health dropped to less than a single bar in Primm taking on five convicts.
Normally this is nowhere near the amount of damage I take at lower levels, the last kill was a second away from putting me down.

Thanks for all your help!

I'm playing at HARD (+hardcoe) settings already. Maybe I'll switch to VERY HARD now.

Very Hard + hardcoe + Only using the 9mm or its Variant, the Maria for the rest of the game.

(OR, you can just drop everything you have but 1 bullet, and 1 weapon. 9mm for instance, and just continue on from there...)

The problem with Very Hard mode is that it's fake difficulty. The enemies don't get smarter, they just turn into bullet sponges. And your guns become inexplicably 400% weaker than anybody else's. The real way to increase difficulty is to reduce everybody's hitpoints, so that two or three solid hits will put anybody down including the player.

Exactly why i never change difficulty from medium. And yes, the game is too easy, and no, i won't do self-gimping.

I think it's illegal to make hard games nowadays. Just like it's illegal to make good horror movies :D

As much as it seems the author is trying to imply that the difficulty is trivial, he is right in the sense that the AI is trivial. He may come across as bashing certain gameplay aspects but it must be said the difficulty and AI is nothing in the game. Sure you could ramp up the slider to Very Hard or inconvenience yourself with hardcoe, but the truth is it's lacking in true difficulty and AI.

I must svck at this game, because I am playing on hardcoe Normal and die alot, and I am sniper character, relying on stealth kills. Although my gun skill is only around 30, I've focused my skill points on speech, barter, medicine, science which are around 75-100. :P So yeah, make a character with bad combative skills!

@ Savage Actually the lead pipe is a very good melee weapon, equalling the baseball bat I think, but faster.
It's skill ranking is 50, is single handed and crushes like yoou would not believe, but is of limited range and has a low health.
Imo it's a great weapon if facing some bad'uns early - mid game.

Cazador's are not that bad in close combat, close to deathclaws but faster and in packs.
Nightstalkers are a lot worse imo, instant cripple attacks most times, two in CC will tear you to shreads.

Ok then, with a rolling pin :) And you will have to fight all of these enemies

you think they should add a cover system like in killzone 2 to fallout?

it would definitely make the enemies harder to kill, and less prone to standing out in the open while shooting and yelling

NO. If I want that I pop Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 in my XBox. That would NOT fit in Fallout.
