Multiplayer Hints? or news?

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 12:07 am

First of all, the game looks amazing, might even be better than skyrim...

Anyway, my real question is: Is there going to be any multiplayer?

I hope there is, skyrim failed to have one which really irritated me a lot, and I also wonder if the game is first person??

Offhand I can't remember anything being said about multiplayer, but given that the story focuses on a single person multiplayer seems unlikely.

As for perspective, I'd assume its first person:

You will not see your legs while playing. You will see some great hand animations -- such as when you touch down from a vertical space.
If it is exclusively third person the whole lack of legs willbe kind of creepy.

Like Donner said: Probably no multiplayer, but still unknown, and almost definitely first person.

It doesn't look like it is going to be. You never know though. Call of duty used to not be a multiplayer game and was only first person, and at times you had a name to the character you were playing, so who knows it might end up being one.

Why must everything have multiplayer? How does multiplayer at all make sense for a game like Dishonored?

I agree for the multiplayer only for FPS games like Battlefield. Games like Dishonored don't need multiplayer because it can ruin the single player. I disagree for the multiplayer in all games.

I wouldn't want coop in the campaign. I heard metro:last light, the sequel to metro 2033, will have coop in the campaign and that really turned me off. It can limit what you do with a game severely.

If its like splinter cell conviction though, and it's a seperated campaign, then hell yes!

I definitely don't want multiplayer in this game, I want all the attention on the single player. But, come on, bro, don't you think it would be really fun to try to stealthily kill 15 other players on a map using all of Corvo's powers and gadgets? Sort of like the Hunger Games.

What? So literally only standard FPS games should have multiplayer?

I doubt there will be a multiplayer (as people said story driven game and all that).
On the other hand Dark Messiah was story driven and it has a multiplayer.
I'll guess we'll have to wait and see.

That's the only thing that would lead me to believe that Dishonored might have multiplayer

Dark Messiah was most definitely NOT story-driven on anywhere near the same level as Dishonored.

They already said in a recent interview it's just single player, which is fine by me.

Also on another note , I'm seeing constant posts like ..."I love Skyrim but...

While Bethesda are PUBLISHING the game they are not involved in the DEVELOPMENT of the game. (yes they give feedback but not development)

ARKANE studios are the developers

Sorry to vent it's just annoying is all. I'm certainly excited that Bethesda is publishing and creating great buzz for the game, it's certainly invaluable, but as a side effect some people misconstrue the developmental processes involved for Dishonored which was/is born wholly from the brilliant minds at "Arkane studios".

Q: And what about the involvement with Bethesda/Todd Howard/ZeniMax/etc/.?

A: Arkane Studios is now part of the ZeniMax family and our future titles, beginning with Dishonored , will be published by Bethesda. "Todd and the rest of Bethesda Game Studios are not working on Dishonored" -- as you know they’re putting the final touches on Skyrim (which we can’t wait to play!).

Not every game needs a multiplayer component. I know Dishonored won't have one but a coop assassination mode would be awesome. Even if it was just two players.

Sometimes working on a multiplayer addition to the game can hurt the single player experience.
Depending on the budget and people working on the new title.

And as their last complete game was released in 2006\2007, I think they need to focus on making this the best single player experience, in my opinion.
No, BioShock 2 design assistance doesn't count.
Arkane Studios is making their very own game here, I think they do us a favour by skipping multiplayer.
Perhaps if this game become a really good success, then maybe they will have a bigger bugdet and more people for a sequel that can have multiplayer without causing any hurt to the process of making the best single player experience, right.

The multiplayer would be completely out of context. Also they will have to waste time on dveloping it. No thank you. Maybe add it wil DLC later. And please don't compare it to Skyrim.

agreed. This was duscussed at Thi4f(god, it still is weird to spell it) forum numerous times. If they do a multiplay, then resources will be divided, which can mean the game will be less refined upon release.

I'd say focus on single then worry about mp later.
