Music to play Skyrim to

Post » Wed Sep 07, 2011 6:28 pm

A while back I saw a few threads floating around where folks discuss the music they will be listening to as they play Skyrim and now, when I finally get the idle notion to throw in my two cents on one, it looks like they sank into the forums beyond a depth my lazy ass is willing to go. Page 2, maybe.

The folks in those discussions seemed more concerned with metal and hard rock anyway. So I figured I'd start a conversation more concerned with the folksier side of things, music one may find more fitting for a fantasy of Skyrim's nature. I aim to share a few of my own choice tunes as well, in the hopes that at least a few folks out there may have their gaming experience enhanced by 'em. Feel free to do the same yourself.

I usuallly listen to ingame music. Though, I'm going to break from tradition and play "rock the dragon" when I see the first one ingame. :P

Celtic Rock and/or some viking [censored] for the battle scenes.

but for enjoying the landscapes definitely some old acoustic folk and light stuff.

I'll probably listen to the in-game music most of the time but I'll likely turn on some folk metal if I'm feeling like Conan. Maybe I can even mod in folk metal for the combat music!! That would be pretty neat.

I'll probably dub it over with some http://www.youtube.com/user/PaintsofSylvan?feature=mhee#p/f/27/A7fuuDc2hH0 or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYg4iuQvVag&feature=related.

Just got this cd not long ago. The entire thing would work perfectly.

Here's a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn1ct1xomoY of one of the full songs. They craft instruments out of animal hides and bones and raw earth. The lyrics are about interpreting the runes. Awesome stuff.

I don't see how anyone could ruin the experience by playing music other than Skyrims music while playing.
