Must-have mods for a warrior?

Post » Thu May 24, 2012 8:02 pm

I've played almost 270 hours of Skyrim, but I have yet to create a warrio build (sword and board or two-handed). I'm thinking about creating one pretty soon, and I figure there are probably several good mods out there that make playing a warrior more fun. So...all you warriors out there, what specific mods can't a warrior live without?

Thanks!

I have enjoyed using http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1269 (Better AI, more spawns) in conjunction with http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/1139-duke-patricks-heavy-weapons-combat/ (More enjoyable combat, only activate the esp after you have left Helgen). I would also recommend using http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1002, though you might need to make a bashed patch for the balance and distribution part to work withe PISE. You might also consider http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=2933 which overhauls the smithing (can't improve things as much, need to use gem dust to improve weapons) and allows you to make a version of any sword in any metal (like a steel dwemer sword or ebony nordic sword) though you will have to make a bashed patch to make sure it works well with the other mods.

Here are a few Perk mods I would recommend for a warrior:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9883 by FrozenAffairs. Combines Thief and Pockpocket trees to make room for a new combat-oriented tree. I think this is an especially handy mod not only for warriors, but also if you plan to play on higher difficulty settings or if you plan to use mods that add more enemies to the game.

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1943 by ClassicalNoodle. While not a 'warrior mod' specicially, this mod benefits warriors indirectly by allowing them to skip prequisite perks for perks they really need. One of my must-have mods for all characters.

I'm using PISE and Deadly Combat and for the most part I'm enjoying it. I also never made a warrior before this character, and I don't know if it's one/combination of mods I'm using/or if it's just plain skyrim, but it's extremely frustrating that all of the NPCs that are stronger than me can do one of those 1HKO auto attacks with the camera view that kill me from 150 health, which is full for my character at the moment. imo, definitely should not be able to do that with at least greater than 33% health or something.

These are all excellent recommendations. I would also recommend Deadly Combat, as it is quite fun and challenging improvement to the vanilla combat. Just make sure you opt for the no weapon range change, or you might end up with strange AI behaviors. Deadly dragons is also a big improvement over vanilla puff the magic dragon AI. Duke Patrick is extremely awesome, and is in my current rotation.

along with the aforementioned deadly combat, deadly dragons, and Jaysus's fine pack
