Simple thing I've noticed but it's made me wonder. There is a mysterious horse near the border to Morrowind, the one east of Riften, with the arch, ya know? A horse there. Furthermore it says you can 'steal' the horse but literally no one is around. Even weirder, it runs back to where you found it once you take it.


What does it mean?

It means Molag Bal is hungry again and plans on eating all of Tamriel.

It's most likely this. I see horses in the wild sometimes and think yay a free horse only for hunter to come and mount it.

It could be a hunter's horse, buuuut....I've never seen a hunter with the horse and I've been to that border a couple times now.

Yeah, something like this. You see these occasionally all over Skyrim, rarely next to cities. Either a Hunter off somewhere shooting at game, or a Noble jumped by bandits. If the owner is dead, chances are you can find him not too far away somewhere. Too bad when the owner dies you cannot freely take possession of his horse, I guess that prevents bandits that kill the owner from just taking him (horse thievery).
