Name in Fallout

Post » Fri Oct 10, 2008 4:08 pm

What do you use your name in Fallout NV? You don't even have the option to say your name to anybody and people don't call you a nick name or anything. It's a little fail. I don't remember if it was the same in Fallout 3?

Thank you for now.

Yup, developers should get all the voice actors to say every possible name in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish etc. If they don't do that then what's the point?Of this thread?

First of all they can make a name for your character? Secondly you can say your name and they could also call you a nick name or something. You are just a nameless man who everybody knows.

And if they make everyone call you by a nickname anyway then whats the point, some NPC's do call you names like Kid or Rookie or something, dispite having the age slider at the oldest.

Yes I would have liked to have a nickname like FO2. Where you earn a pormstar name or Boxer name or even a Madman name. Would have been nice to earn one at the Thorn.

It was exactly the same, also for your info, they call you Courier or Stranger.

Also, I'de rather have a name which nobody knows instead of "SHEPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARD"

My name in my second game is Katalin and I saw my character addressed twice using my name. I don't recall where but once was a reference to Dr. Katalin and I believe she was referencing herself.

Let's see how long it takes for the mods to remove this name even though every NPC in the game says the f word... *shakes head*

Game's rated mature.
Forum's rated PG13 IIRC.

It's funny all these people see their names in New Vegas, yet I don't recall meeting a single Justin

Look, like I'm the odd man out

I think the thorn would be "hunter" or something, thats what the lady calls you anyway.

There is one quest where I had the speech option to say "The name's Delilah," because the character I was speaking to didn't know who I was.

Unfortunatly, the name Hayden seems to have died out due to natural selection. My characters also have completly odd names that no one would have picked for there kids, like Donnie.

It's no different than FO3 and most other RPGs that allow you to choose your own name. Then can't record voice acting for a name they don't know, right? Am I missing something?

You don't know your name. You have amnesia, remember? You basically just made up something that you thought sounded okay and used it as a moniker. It doesn't really matter, and it's just as easy to call you whatever the person you're talking to wants to call you.

I was tempted to rename my character to Shepard when I found out they have a Rex in this game.

:P

I think they have a Justin inside of Vegas North Square, but I could be wrong.

Hell my last characters have been named...

Delaque,
Red Trapper,
Red Fist,
Escher,
Foxglove Lovelace,
Honey 'o svckles.

Name one of those that Doc Mitchell would have picked, let alone been paid for by Obsidian to voice act.

Johnny Guitar
Because every time I turned on the radio on my test run (that's what I call my first playthroughs) I'd hear that song.

Uh, no you don't. The Courier makes a half-dozen different references to his/her life before picking up the chip.

you definately do, otherwise the game would have no point when you could easily just become a courier again, what i'm suprised about is that you worked for the mojave express in primm but no one there knows you at all. It seems like Ulysses is the only npc who actually knows you from before you got shot

You were delivering it too Primm, not from Primm.

And I know that, during the FoTA quest The Moon Comes Over The Tower, my character said "[Barter 50] Dr. Mako Vlazkov diagnoses a severe shortage of caps being discussed here."
