Narfi the grieving bum from Ivarstead

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 3:25 pm

I tried to be serious but I couldn't anymore. This bum reminds me so much like the sixual harassment panda from South park. The way he talks sounds so much like the south park character. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Uh... I'm going to turn this topic into something a bit more substantive. Whenever I do his quest, I always tell him the truth about his sister. Is that the right thing to do? Crazy and hurting he may be, but telling him that his sister will be home soon just feels... cruel. I figure he has a better chance of finding peace, and maybe actually bettering himself, if he knows what really happened. What did you all do?

I told him the truth because he deserves to know in spite of it hurting him. I just couldn't help but to laugh at his response because I had south Park in my mind at the time :x

I think Narfi is a pathetic character, and I feel sorry for him. My characters always give him his sisters necklace.
I am fairly certain I know which resident of Ivarstead wants the Dark Brotherhood to kill him, and I would act the same if I was in the characters position.

pretty sure it was that guy running the vilemyr inn in ivarstead. But he was marked essential to me, dunno why. So i DLed a mod that makes him unessential and sent him to sithis

Idem.

I also felt with him. Until I received a Daedra heart and a human heart from him in return for finishing that quest, that is. That was just weird.

Don't kill him till you join the DB. That way you get the satisfaction of killing him and getting a reward for it. Better yet, carry out the assasination with Ebony Blade.

^ This. I really wanted to smack the innkeeper around for that one. Sure, keep telling the poor guy his sister will be "home soon." That's the ticket. While it's equally as heartbreaking to tell him his sister's quite dead, I felt much better doing that rather than sticking with the "no, she'll totally be home soon, lolz" line the innkeeper was running. Catharsis is better than lies and denial, you know?

Anyway. My character has always felt sorry for Narfi. Whenever she passes through Ivarstead, she usually stops by his...uh, house to leave him some food and coin. Her reasoning is somebody's got to look after the poor guy, since he's clearly not too capable of looking after himself.

Yeah, but I love the innkeeper's response when you find the necklace and talk to the innkeeper about it before telling Narfi! :D

That quest is moot in my game. He is dead thanks to the Dark Brotherhood.
