Option 1

Frostmere Crypt, a Nordic ruin located south-southwest of Dawnstar, on the hold border. I can reach it by taking the main road from Morthal east until I cross the border into The Pale. Just passed the border is a small trail that leads east up to the ruin

More detail with no location marker would be my preference. I like both your first example and Deostades example.

There will be no location marker at all, so the only info given will be the one in the quest journal.

I will probably put a little more detail for simple bandit camps and such, but for dragon lairs and ancient locations, leave them a little vague.
