I Need Tips To Increase FPS

Post » Thu Jun 16, 2011 5:43 pm

Hi All

I’ve been playing the game for about 250 hours and this is my second time. About 3 weeks ago, i had virus problem in my laptop and i scanned my laptop with several antivirus and and antispyware programmes. After these scans, my computer was cleaned but the average fps of my Oblivion decreased. The only explanation comes to my mind is, the programmes that i used to clean my laptop unintentially erased some of the files from Oblivion folder and this causes fps drops (if this is somehow possible). Maybe summer hot slows down my laptop, i am not sure about the reason. Except for the in-game video detail adjustments sliders, i need tips to increase my game's fps. I am using Official Mods, Shivering Isles 1.2.014, OOO 1.34, Unofficial Patch 3.2.0, tons of custom modes, Obse Loader 1.8, OBMM 1.1.12, BOSS Mod Ordering, Streamline, 3 GB Ram Enabler, Oblivion Stutter Remover, Unofficial Patch Supplementals-27710-3-3-5 and Mod Conflict Detector. My game folder is around 17 GB and i don’t use any texture quality increasing mods such as Qarl’s Texture Pack. My laptop scores 13.700 points at 3DMark05 test with its overclocked Ati 5650 VGA and Intel I3 2.13 Ghz. My OS is Win7 Ultimate and i run the game at XP SP2 compatibility mode. I play at 1600x900 resolution with 17 inch laptop and, as you know, laptops graphic quality is best at its original resolution so i don’t want to lower the resolution.

Thanks

If it weren′t for all your mods and whatnot, I′d immediately suggest a reinstall. Maybe you can do it anyway without affecting your mods, I′m not sure

Installing the game with all modes took almost a week. I don't want to do it again, this is why i opened this topic.

I suspect that the heat may be your problem.

Do you really need to run it it the XP Compatability Mode? Windows Vista and Seven actually do a very good job of running Oblivion without using any compatability mode, even if Oblivion is not a "Games For Windows" game.
You can also try increasing the size of your Page File - the amount of memory that Widows uses like RAM - to try and decrease the stuttering.
Adjust the FPS setting of the Streamsmooth function of Streamline to where the Min FPS of Streamsmooth is three FPS higher than OSR, and the Max Fps of Streamsmooth is three FPS lower than the Max FPS of OSR, and try to get smoother gameplay by enabling individual parts of Streamsmooth.
Last option is cut back on some mods, but I feel the same way about this option
