Id needs to inprove the lloks of rage!

Rage suffers from highly compressed low detail textures with a little texture pop=in. I think rage needs to add more graphics options so that these texture problems will be less noticeable.

HDR makes a huge difference in games like resident evil 5. The intense brightness of sun soaked surfaces hides close up detail of textures. Especially during bloom transitions.

Full screen motion blur is a great way to hide some of the texture pop in when turning fast.

Object based motion blur could hide the low detail textures in moving objects.

Depth of field can hide the low detail textures in the back ground.

Bilionic upscaling that is planed in the second patch should help.

Detail texture that is planned in next patch can not come soon enough.

16 k texture should be an option in the menu for people with lots of vram.

I think id tech 5 supports all theses options so id if you are paying attention please add all this in a patch. This should make a huge difference.

Their will be another patch. Its confirmed. I think its talking so long because they making detail on every surface of the game. Don't expect the next patch to fix the game it self. That seems to be completely a driver issue at this time. Mainly ATI drivers svck. Nvidea works perfect for me after the fist work around patch. I think even that patch was to fix Nvidea driver issues.

You need to understand that this game uses OpenGL ... and the other 99% of games use DX.

Only OpenGL ATI Drivers svck ... please keep it accurate.

ATI/AMD drivers have certain performance characteristics that svck under D3D too. Certain cases where they're even slower than Intel.

Not everyone on this planet has English as their first language, jerk.

Your point is invalidated act the fact the entire remainder of the OP's subject is in perfect english.

And lighten up. It was just a humorous way of suggesting the use of spellcheck.

Shall we talk about grammar...what is "act the fact" supposed to mean?

See, I can easily translate the OP's thread title but I have no idea what you meant by that phrase unless you meant to say 'after the fact" or something.

Pot calling the kettle black here etc etc.

Innocent typos, posting after coming home from the pub, these things just happen!

On-topic.

Rage out of the box actually already has quite a few of those wish-list features. HDR, motion blur and DoF are all present and correct.

Reference to my old topic with similar insight: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1244972-hdr-effects/page__p__18913493#entry18913493

Regarding the Ati - Drivers is no secret their driver support sux. When Doom3 came out I had a Radeon 9600 relative to the Geforce 5200 gts or so, which a friend of mine had. Price-wise they were similar, but when it came to performance in Doom3 my poor Ati was with maybe 20 % slower, which was crucial for the overall feel of the game. Id or their game is not to be blamed for that in the Rage case as well.

The engine has HDR, DOF and motion blur, but the game does not. The driving boost has some blur, but that is about it.

An interviewer told Tim Willits that he noticed id tech 5 had no HDR lighting. Tim Willits replied id tech 5 does have HDR, but rage does not. The engine can do anything, but it can't do every thing.

Other interviews from id stated that id tech 5 can scale high in to next gen consoles, which leads me to believe they held this game back for 60 FPS on the consoles and did not bother to add anything to the pc.

As far as i know, OpenGL was made by 3Dfx, and all their staff is working for Nvidia !

So it's Nvidia's playground

Also SLI, T&L, FSAA .. all are technologies made by 3Dfx !
