So I never played a mmo

Never played one. I have no interest in WOW or runescape. But I like TES, and I'm trying to figure out if I should even invest interest in it. What is an mmo and hat do you do in it. I mean is it like a rpg? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Cheers

MMOs can be different types of games. In the case of TESO, it'll be an MMORPG, so yeah, it will have RPG elements. Think of prior Elder Scrolls games and add an online portion to them - this is basically what TESO will be like. Of course there will be several differences to make it more suitable for an online game.

I've played a lot of MMOs and I've always loved 'em. Put that with my love for the Elder Scrolls series, and I've pretty much struck gold. If you're interested in playing a game with hundreds of other people and with TES lore, you should definitely be interested in the game.

There's not a lot of information out about the game yet, but we should be seeing more stuff soon enough.

@OP: Don't believe a word of it. If you have played previous TES titles and enjoyed the gameplay, prepare yourself for the fact that this game will play very differently and you will not comfortably transition. There will be a learning curve: it will not play like previous TES games due to the design choices made by ZOS.

Best thing to do is get your hands on any of the myriad MMOs out there (most are free to try) and play with it a bit to get a feel for things. World of Warcraft is a good start, but a more accurate depiction would likely be Guild Wars 2 (which comes out on the 28th) as to what ESO will play like.

Other than that, it might look quite a bit different than other TES games as well, with a more stylized, simple look, especially if you are used to Skyrim.

It will be more or less the same lore and all the races are there except Imperials, but don't expect this to be like playing TES with friends. They have said numerous times it is most certainly not that.

I suppose I should have gone more in-depth, that was a little misleading. ZOS is trying to make the game have a familiar style to the single player games, but of course there will be differences. The combat will have a real time feel to it - such as when you block, you block. The fighting will be more strategic than the single player games. Which, in my opinion, is an upside.
