Could be interesting, but while worthy, superior sequels to favorite classics are, A: Something I constantly wish to see become a reality, they are also, B: The last thing I should get my hopes up for on being worthy and superior.

If this was BioWare of old it'd be one thing. It's EA BioWare now though...

Old BG won't pull off in modern market.

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking.

Eh, I wasn't even a big fan of their old work. Definitely much better than now, but their AI pathfinding was atrocious, the combat overly reliant on constant micromanagement, and contained absolutely absurd difficulty spikes. If they were to use the old formula, I'd like to see improvements there as well. Sadly, a current gen Baldur's Gate would most likely disappoint everybody, and even that's assuming a large enough number of people even pay attention to it aside from the fact that the "creators of ME made it".

Edit: I will say their KOTOR games, minus the rampant bugs, were a huge improvement over their older games. BG with that system would be wonderful, but again, we'd sooner get an ME clone with swords than anything resembling their old school hardcoe RPGs.

I don't see the point behind a new Baldur's Gate title. The story was finished at Throne of Bhaal, and the rules have long since changed. Sure, it could be set in Faerun, but it's hardly the only video game that's taken place in Faerun. It's just brand name recognition.

http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1354311-new-baldurs-gate-being-teased/, lets use that.

Though it's good to see it's finally counting down to something, instead of just having the site up there for 2 weeks with random BG quotes in the code. They were definitely taking their time. And now a countdown to wait for. Better be worth it.
