New Battlemage Character, Looking For Something New in the G

Post » Wed Aug 01, 2012 8:00 pm

So after playing the hell out of this game on an 2h warrior/bow assassin character I decided to make a battlemage. I honestly don't know what to do though. I've beaten all but a few quests on my main character and I have another character, a mage which glitched that I chose Empire on instead of Stormcloaks. I love Skyrim, but I don't know what to do to keep it interesting. The only thing I can think of is choosing the Vampire faction instead of Dawnguard.

I generally find it hard to create a character background and roleplay with the alignments other than pure neutral. Do you guys have any ideas of what I can do to keep things fun?

Pick some enemy group and make it your personal duty to wipe them out. I generally choose rogue witches, wizards, and vampires as a battlemage (which is what I'm playing currently). Make a backstory for your character before you start, even if you don't like to RP or don't know a lot of lore, if you've played through Skyrim once, you know enough. This gives you motivations to do stuff, and once you have a backstory, you can play the character and make choices organically as you play based off what he/she would do in that situation.

Other than that, I would use a skill calculator to plan out your perk selection and give you this advice. First, don't choose both destruction and archery. Figure out which one you want and go off of that. In fact, choose what kind of magic you want to use to begin with, offensive, defensive, or supportive. Offensive probably go destruction and conjuration. Defensive go Alteration and Restoration. Supportive go Illusion and Encanting. Or, choose two and mix and match. As a battlemage, I find it most effective to invest heavily in only 2 to 3 schools of magic. Past that you are fundamentally a pure mage.

Play the quests in different ways...try to see what you can get away with and choose what you did before. Skip the main quests if you want.

Looking at another thread I was thinking of joining the vampires and being a lawful evil battlemage. I currently have some perks in destruction, one handed and heavy armor. I didn't do light armor because I find it ugly.

Tips on lawful evil? I'm only vaguely familiar. I'm thinking bad guy with an honor code kind of thing.

Give your Battlemage a "job" if you will, I mean something to do. That could be as simple as helping every citizen in every town. Or as My Battlemage is doing "distroying the great Evil" .... Dragons, Dragon Priests, Vampires.... Oh and Thalmor...lol

Thing is if you only do say one or two questlines... or none at all, you can go into any place you want without worrying about "breaking" a quest. In it's own way that make's it alot more fun, because at the back of your mind you are not worrying about doing so.

I can't help with that one, but that kind of sounds right.
