new housecarls won't dismiss when taken as followers?

So my new housecarl from Morthal will not dismiss even when I select dismiss. I took him as a follower to set him with heavy armor and weapons to use. I selected "I do not need your help" dismiss option and he said "I will meet you back at the house." but weird thing is he DIDN'T. He followed me around. So I re-loaded a save I had just before taking him as a follower and tried again. Sure enough, remained as a follower as far as not leaving me and returning home.

I then got the land from Falkreath and got another Alikr looking housecarl. I tried the same thing, gave her armor and weapons and then dismissed her. She would not leave me either.

Well I then took a non-housecarl follower and dismissed them, and they left like they are suppose to.

Also I can't be the only one tired of walking into my OWN HOME and being greeted by my steward "You lost?"

"No I'm not lost! And shouldn't you be sleeping in the stable with the horse or something?!"

Interesting! When you took on the non-housecarl follower in the third pass, did the previous housecarl followers you had (Valdimar, Rayya) follow you around as extras even then? I know they are a bit willful/free-spirited (I'm sure they meant, "back at the house, eventually"), but it would be cool if you could have them as bonus extra followers for a while. Better than Aerin!

That's odd. When you asked a non-housecarl follower, you did not get the 'You already have someone' dialog? So you have 2 followers? I say it's time for a rampage!

Not sure if that will work. I use the UFO mod but had no followers with me at the time. So I think if I keep taking more followers they won't say "you have someone with you already" since the UFO mod allows multiple followers. Now before you say its the mod, I thought of that. And that maybe the new housecarls have a different script not in the ufo mod. But I've never had an issue with dismissing followers before.

I found that the UFO mods is the cause of my problems with the new Housecarls. I too Rayya to Lakeside and she asked to be Steward I agreed but never got any options to get her to leave my company or to buy items for the house. I turned off the UFO mod went into game and the conversation options where there. I am now running with UFO again and Rayya seems to be working fine now.

Other people have had the same issue over on the Nexus if you read the mod page.

I had all the dialog options, its just that they didn't follow the dismiss. I'll maybe try turning it off and then back on as you did and see if it helps me. I'm not to concerned other then I just wanted to give them good armor.

if you find some chick named anska in a cave, nearly complete her quest and she will practically always be in the neighbourhood. shes a really powerfull mage. but dont completely finish it... unless you then get the option to make her follow you ofcourse. i dont know i got smoked by the boss at the end
