I haven't started the Civil War quests yet. I have been reading some spoilers a bit, and caught how the Jarl of Whiterun, Jarl Bulgruf (I am sure I spelt it wrong) will be replaced if I side with the Stormcloaks. I could be wrong though.

I like Jarl Bulgruf and don't want him replaced. So if I do the Stormcloak side of Civil War, will he be replaced? Is it scripted or do I have a choice of having him still be Jarl Bulgruf and not replaced? I don't really want to do the Imperial side yet, so am will the Jarl be changed if I side with Stormcloaks?

Also when I start a new game and side with the Imperials do any other Jarls get changed? Don't tell me who, just yes or no. I am guessing you don't have a choice, they happen no matter what, but just in case it's not, I want to make sure before I start my civil war quests.

yes he will be replaced and there is nothing you can do about it as a stormcloak. I was very sad when this happened the first time for me.

Darn, thanks Eldrig. I am sadden as well, since I don't want him gone. In my RP ways, I want to side with Ulfric so I can eliminate him and then as High King, I can free Markarth to it's rightfull dwellers. Yes I know I can't do it, but at least I can imagine I am doing it "on the way".

When you side with the Imperials all the Jarls of the Stormcloak Holds get changed, some for the worse, some for the better. When you side with the Stormcloaks, all the Jarls of the Imperial Holds (with one exception) get changed.

so if you don't continue the MQ, and you replace the Jarl by doing the stormcloak questline immediately after Helgen, what happens?

Balgruuf refuses to deal with Ulfric's/Tullius' message while he has a dragon at his doorstep.
