New Lord of The Rings game

It seems to have a lot of potential. I'll wait until more info about the game comes out before I make my judgement of course, but right now it has my attention. The story looks pretty cliche, but the setting itself is interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing what the game play is like.

What do you think about this new game, Zach?

I have mixed feelings about the LOTR series being [censored]d out even further than it already has been.

Why does it always revolve around being a ranger or something covered in the books.

Be nice to see other areas and stories not really told much about such as the haradrim or the easterlings.

nah lets just make another over the top dunedain character with "inner conflict".

Looks interesting. (And I can play it on 360!)

However, War In The North seriously rocked my faith in LOTR games. Literally the worst game I've ever played on the Xbox.

There's not even game play yet.

For the record, I'd just like to point out that I think it has a lot of potential game play wise. I'm aware it'll probably be a train wreck in terms of lore, although I do think the setting is at least something different from other LOTR games.

Fix'd. There can be no honest and genuine opinion on the game until we see the actual game, no?

A "next gen sandbox"... on PS3 and Xbox 360? lol

It's been a long time since I've not been disappointed with a LOTR game.

I like War in the North. :(

Better than the 5000 'fight alongside the main canon characters' games.

Story-wise, it was a good setting. But you can't really say that the ending was satisfying! And didn't you feel cheated when you found out that 3/4 of the marks on the map weren't even visitable? :(

Not to mention the gameplay got far too repetitive very quickly. (IMO)

I know it will svck ass. Generic ranger, generic blue over tones, generic grim and gritty reboot, generic plot, generic studio, [censored] on the series, generic looking back at camera pose, generic holding sword backwards pose, generic broken sword, generic company pitch I've heard them say multiple times!!! About multiple lord of the rings games!!! The last thing the company worked on was Gotham City Impostors (over microtransactioned garbage that had a few cool ideas for a trailer) and Guardians of Middle Earth (generic as can be). Both pretty bland and [censored].

PAASSSSSS!!!

Edit

They have to impress me. Not the other way around.

It sounds interesting, but I'm always wary about LOTR stuff. Hopefully they won't [censored] up anything and deliver a great game.

You enjoy that opinion, okay? Don't force-feed it to us. No offence, of course. It's just that from personal experience pessimists are a pain the ass to be around and I don't want to be negative all the time. If that's how you like to be, then I wont judge.

It feels like it was designed by a committee of suits to be "cool" and "trendy". As opposed to having any artistic or gameplay merits of its own. Oh kids these days like open world. Gotta put that in!

Edit

I'll be right in the end. I usually am. I don't care how much or little you like me. Completely irrelevant to how that game is going to turn out. I'll be here when it launches. You can come and tell me with a straight face how good it is. :)

Not really, I found MOST of it enjoyable. But the one part I hated with a passion was the dwarven city. Trying to kill those trolls was a pain in the ass and I only beat it with the help of some strangers in multiplayer. :(

LOL I blasted through the whole thing on medium difficulty, but that part did kill me more than even Agendour himself. :P

I just think that the game had great potential for a story (best setting out of all the games so far IMO) but the writing fell short in my eyes.

I didn't really go in with high expectations. It's to be expected of film based games. At least the game too a unique approach instead of the typical Khazad Dum, Helms Deep, Pelinor Fields, Siege of Minas Tirith and Black Gates of Morannon' formula the rest tend to follow.

Hold on, I'll get my book of childish insults. Maybe that will be more relateable for those involved?

Lets's see... Ah yes.

Not every argument can be full of lulz. Sometimes you just have to argue. I know I wish I could do something funny too, but I'm about at my quota for the day.

ha I agree with your observations of the overly generic theme they paint but that doesn't mean that there couldn't be a solid game at the core of all the crap. I'm inclined to believe it will be bad like every other LOTR game but it could easily surprise us.

Oh and what's wrong with open world games? I love the freedom if it's handled right as laying a predetermined linear path before me takes away any sense of adventure or making the world feel real...even if I have to be the "chosen one", it's still better to choose your way on the chosen path.

No such thing as a quota for how silly you can make yourself look.

Man, this is going to get locked and I'm going to be so butthurt.
