New NPCs DLC Please.

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 6:40 pm

So with the NPC blood bath of DawnGuard underway will there be new NPCs to fill in their places for 360 and other console owners? I got lucky and lost one minor merchant so far, but others haven't been so fortunate. Now I say this only a few hours into the completion of DawnGuard, so the Vampire attacks have dwindled, but it seems there are reports of it continuing. Now something to consider along as we're addressing this issue in the future might be a "Character Editor" so we can just do it ourselves. Also such a DLC might open avenues of current characters returning like Saadia looking for revenge, or a host of vanilla story elements coming back with their ramifications.

So would you buy a DLC with a Character Editor? How would you want it to work? Also would you want to see all those kids now grown up as advlts NPCs running stalls and making comments. The ghost town issue needs to be fixed due to DawnGuard's Raiding Vampires, making a new character is one way, but I can see people who spent 200 plus hours on a main build to have their world diminished getting reasonably upset.

So if you could fix it for Console players how would you?

I'm for a DLC featuring a full blown Character Editor that fills those deathly gaps when they happen.

You can drop in NPCs on the PC etc but there is simply no depth to them and they can't really replace a character within the game. If this was added as a DLC for consoles it would be awful in my opinion.

Next game I hope there is a radiant NPC system where if an NPC dies a new one is generated, takes their house, has scripted actions, etc. This way towns would have different inhabitants

I'm actually starting to worry about the absence of vampire attacks in my game. When the guard first told me about joining the Dawnguard after I installed the DLC there was a random attack right next to Honeyside in Riften, and myself and a couple of guards got rid of it only after it had killed Aerin. So that was pretty handy. Since then I haven't had a single attack inside a city after over 50 hours of gameplay, about 30 of which were spent doing the MQ. I've been attacked plenty of times on the roads, and a couple of times just outside a city, and I've run into dozens of groups of "Vigilant Vampire Hunters" fighting a couple of vampires, but not since that first time have I been attacked, or seen an attack, inside a city.

Are there now hundreds of vampires waiting for me to fast-travel to Dawnstar, and when I arrive will there be a full-scale battle lasting thirteen days?

Your game is probably working as intended.

Initial attack in city
Occasional attack just outside city
Regular attack in the wilderness
Encounters with vampire hunters

Sounds like what balanced and unintrusive implementation would look like.

Apologies if this is a daft question, but I'm guessing a patch for Dawnguard won't be appearing until, at the earliest, the PC and PS3 versions have been out for a while?

Maybe constant attacks are a glitch? But I'm still afraid to port directly to the city.

Yeah, I can't see an NPC replacement system for Skyrim doing anything than popping in a generic character.

If past history is anything to go by, I'm not sure that we'll see any kind of 'editor' for Skyrim other than the CS.

Don't ask me - I just post here.

Personally I'm very disappointed in Bethesda for not saying a word about the issue loads of people are having - even if just to acknowledge it.

I don't think this will ever happen since I think Bethesda wants to make DLC that adds content and lore , not tools to play around with. The Dragonborn sure is tough but I doubt he has the gift of spawning human beings !

Not to mention it would be a complete kick in the teeth if they made the people who didn't like this feature in the first place, pay for it.

There is no point wasting money from developers and in the end, money from us customers for a DLC because a former DLC had a feature that broke the vanilla game. There shouldn't be any discussion regarding that matter. Vampire attacks in cities are wrong, they should remove them either after Dawnguard MQ is done or after you join one of the DG factions...

a DLC that buffed the guards equal to their Oblivion counterparts would be nice, also increasing the amount of guards present in each town would help with the problem of the Vampires wiping out entire towns.

As far as I know, there were no bug fixes at all on the current DLC and the beta version. All the bugs and glitches we noted in the beta forums are still in the game, so I can only assume that everyone is playing on the same version as the beta version. Both versions are also the same file size, as well.

Hopefully they've been working on a patch for release by the end of the month or sometime next month, but who knows.

I fast travel everywhere and have only had three attacks within a walled city, I have doubts whether you fast travel or whether you actually go through the door is going to make that much difference. That area is still loaded so what ever scripted event was going to occur will still occur. Walking or riding to open unprotected towns might be an idea. Mind you I tried that last night when I accidentally wiped out most of Karthwasten by fast travelling there to drop of a quest item. Braggen only had a couple of dragons 4 Dawnguard and a few stray animals in tow, no vampires. Replaying it a few times to try and avoid fatalities, Braggen fast traveled to the nearest enemy location (where nothing bad appeared) and rode there. His adoring fans were waiting for him anyway, they ambushed him before he got to the town. it seemed whether I fast travelled or not they were determined to start a fight. There were no fatalities in Karthwasten though.

Know how sometimes when you kill a store owner someone comes to take their place what if you kill the second person, is the store just empty then forever.
