Another new interview this time with Paul Sage. Haven't listened to it fully yet so if someone could post a summary that would be awesome of you, as I'm at work and can't really watch the vid yet fully. Enjoy!

Summary thanks to http://www.gamesas.com/user/883915-leperchans/ :

  • Lawrence Shick (Lore Master, think that's how you spell his name) might not have done any voice acting in the game.
  • No real way to RP between factions, they are focusing on the three faction PvP. Might potentially later on might do something, but right now you can't. (But obviously you could RP with other faction members in Cyrodiil, just not outside of there. I think that's what he was mainly getting at).
  • Day/Night Cycle: Four times the speed of real life. Day night cycle should switch around 6 times a day.
  • Modding in the game will be just for UI only at the moment. Possible allow more modding later on down the road. (Don't believe they would open up modding anymore than just for the UI).
  • There will be a "Large Scale Player Trade Mechanism" in the game (basically an Auction House). They want it more focused than a huge broad-scaled AH, and have a small community towards it. (Makes me think that AH will be region specific and not just go to one and you see everything your faction put up, no matter where you put up the items).
  • Adventure Zones: Groups of 4 can go into Adventure Zones. There will be areas within the Adventure Zones that you will need 24 people. Lots of activities for different groups sizes, but mainly most of it will be for 24 man groups.
  • There will be item progression in the game.
  • Role Players: Costumes. There are more features for Role Players just not revealing at the moment.
  • They have to hit certain milestones with number of people in Closed Betas before they increase the number of people. Will expand much more later on in the year (obviously).
  • Adventure Zones: Large open zone. Raids are within the Adventure Zones. Won't really have the traditional kill one boss type fights. Might have situations where you send 5 people in one area to deal with something ,another 5 to another area to handle a different situation. Have to attack things in parallel and with timing.
  • No voice macros in the game at the moment.
  • There will be mounts in the game. Mounts are like they are in typical MMOs. You can feeds your mounts and how you feed your mounts determine how it will grow. You can determine the paths of your mounts and how they behave. (Ok that is pretty cool and I really like hearing about this).
  • It is possible to have a guilds with all three factions in there. You can join up to 5 different guilds. Your account is attached to your guilds. (So to me that means that if I'm an Ebonheart player and have my Ebonheart main guild and I create an Aldmeri Character I can still communicate with my guildmates. But that doesn't mean that you can just add someone from another faction though, they have to have a character from your faction in your guild first though).
  • PvP rewards: Alliance Points (get through killing, taking keeps) used to buy armor/weapons.
  • You can pick four classes, but it's very open-ended and can make any class you want. Could be tough to balance for PvP, but that's the fun part of it. (Really nothing near here folks).
  • PvP Gear: There will be PvP gear that you can acquire in PvP, but there are no PvP attributes in the game.
  • Crafting (Provisioner): They are basically food and drink crafters. They are long time buff givers, compared to potions, which only give short buffs. You can buy food in the game, but the best food in the game can only be made by crafters.
  • Healing: Healing is very actively involved. Healing is mainly AoE or Coned. It is smart heals so heals people who mainly need it the most or whoever is in front of you (if it's coned).
  • Crafting: You can put a signature on weapons/armor. So people can see who made those items.
  • Role Playing: Can't just put items out in the world at the moment. They said they aren't doing it at the moment because of just griefing reasons, but are looking into ways so that later on you could be able to place things around the world.

It seems to me Paul has been much more visible these days than Matt. No offense to Matt, but I find Paul a much better spokesman for the game so if this was on purpose I definitely understand the decision.

EDIT: Lol at the first question, Paul don't know about how SAG works hehehe, funny answer though.

6 hour day-night cycle is GREAT!

Mounts need to be fed and that changes how they grow!?! That's pretty outside the themepark box, now, isn't it?

The best things to take away from this interview are...

12:28 > spoke about mounts and personalizing/feeding/training them, making them much more personal to you.
13:16 > said that you can be in a guild with people from all three factions.
22:15 > said that you can put a signature on armor and weapons.
That's all the new/interesting stuff, anyway.

Look above, I watched it all, 2-3 questions were skimmed a bit in translation, the others we already knew answers to, but the rest were new answers to stuff we didn't know. :icecream:

Interesting, no PVP-specific attribute or stat. Not sure if that is old news, but that is the first I've heard of that.

I love the get to the point German nature. I work for a German company and it can be quite refreshing. While in Stuttgart a few weeks ago I picked up an awesome MMORPG magazine called Buffed. It had large ESO article, filled with nice screen shots I had not previously seen. I just need to learn German.

I really like the idea of "personalizing" mounts, brilliant. Also really the way guilds are implemented sounds very interesting and since a lot of guild is the social I think this will be great allowing friends to still be in the same guild while playing different factions. I also like the PVP skills gained through the alliance war. I wonder how much time/effort will be required to get these skills?

I can only hope that eventually we get more mount variety than just horses. Dunmer eat horses, we don't ride 'em. ;)

Warning the following is a totally stereo type comment.

My wife and my friends' wives almost all rolled hunters in WoW. I swear it is something to do with their nurturing instinct. Feeding and caring for a mount I think will appeal a lot to the female part of our species. I'll tell my wife about this and return with the results later.

^^ This, any mmo with a pvp stat is already broken and unbalanced. So pleased to see there will be no special stat for pvp.

I liked the costumes tab so you can instantly switch to town clothes. ^_^

Hopefully there's a lot of choice!

Yes indeed. I was surprised he answered a lot of them to the extent that he did considering how tight lipped they tend to be about some things.

Yeah i'm looking forward to that as an avid RPlayer but i expect any half decent mmo to have this feature at release.

  • I also liked it very much that there's no special PvP stats, but I think he didn't exclude special PvP set looks ...
  • He mentioned the fact that you can see a character's progression by the gear and weapons he/she is wearing. That would indicate that we won't have "transmutation stone" like game mechanism where you can add the stats of one armour piece to another (similar armour class) piece so you can have exactly the stat/look combination you want. That's a pity.
  • What I found a bit contradictory is that they want to restrict inter-alliance communication to emphasize "alliance pride" on the one hand but on the other you're able to be able to be member of cross-alliance guilds. So in chat you could get "hey Laura I see you're fighting on your Breton Templar now but can you please help us out with your Nord healer?
    A bit strange ..

There isn't a lot of half decent mmo's around then ;-)

Still watching it, but cool stuff to hear.

edit: I forsee more rage about AZ's coming soon. It sounds like they're going for more of a unique spin on large scale PvE than just changing the name.

edit2: multi faction guild gonna make alot of people happy

edit3: long hair on dudes is still cool in germany I think

edit4: Paul is a better public speaker than Matt

edit5: that german chick can talk super fast

edit6: having no pvp specific "stat" is good, means they'll have to focus more on balancing skills than trying to make sure their version of resilience/valor/whatever isn't strong enough to handle super damage from pve tuning
