New Regions?

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 11:51 pm

I just read the Gamespot review and the journo said "One of this mini-expansion's greatest joys is its new areas. You investigate a portion of the oblivion realm, which has an otherworldly beauty, and travel through a chilly glacial retreat replete with gorgeous waterfalls and frozen lakes. You traverse suspended walkways and fight pointy-eared falmer upon them, and get swept away by rushing waters too strong to struggle against. Dawnguard is lovely and atmospheric, and traveling these new regions is a pleasure."

What new regions? New glacial retreats? Where?

Where are these new massive glacial retreats and waterfalls and frozen tundras? Is it the Forgotten Vale? I thought that was a dungeon...

The Forgotten Vale sits at the end of an hour or so trek through Darkfall Cave and the ensuing cavern complex.

The Soul Cairn is in Castle Volkihar, albeit very well hidden. ;)

Is the Forgotten Vale the most amazing sight in Skyrim? Does it have its own map marker to fast travel to?

I think it does, but only after you go through the cave first. When you exit that you "discover" the forgotten vale

The Forgotten Vale, and the Soul Cairn.
the forgotten vale is not a new region, it is still in skyrim. A new region would be like going to Morrowind or Cyrodiil.

I think he was paid to say there is a new region to promote more people to buy dawnguard.

How many locations/map markers does Dawnguard add? Isn't the map really cluttered with the new castles and new caves?

a region could be anywhere, in this case it's a new region within Skyrim. don't confuse region with province

it's just semantics

basically Dawnguard takes you to various small and bigger sized new locations, still within the borders of sky rim, but some of them are added on the edges of the original map

You have to have smithing at 100 and the dragon bone perk.

Dear god this nitpicking is driving me off the bend.
Dawnguard adds new regions to the game insofar as the forgotten vale and the soul cairn are new regions in the game, is that understood?
(Even though the soul cairn isnt a realm of Oblivion so the reviewer got that wrong.)

Sheesh.

Sheesh.
I assume that was a mistake? The Soul Carin is most certainly a realm of Oblivion.
