New Save File Gone After New Character

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 6:23 pm

So recently the lag on my original character has been starting to get bad. Not as bad as some people have been experiencing but still bad enough to bother me. I haven't started the main story on that character and after 54 hours I thought it was about to time to actually see what kind of quests bethesda had in store for me. So, instead of playing on my old laggy character I decided I'd make a new one and do the main story first because I originally planned on creating a second character eventually. After playing for 2 and a half hours I go to save my game and my original save is gone. This is the first time I have manually saved on this character and the only saves left are the autosaves, my brother's character, and the save that's automatically made after you are taken out of the carriage which is from my new character. Me and my brother always overwrite our saves and never create new saves unless it's a new character. So, does anyone know what happened here? I was never prompted to overwrite or anything...

EDIT: Sorry, meant to put OLD save file gone after new character in the title, not new

Probably a glitch or something, I just started a new game like 2 hours ago and I still have my save files from my old character.

there is a work around for this for the time being the first save slot is always going to be broken till they fix it so here is what you do

1 make a new character
2 right before they ask you what you want to be race wise save the game 2 times
3 save your new character game on the 2nd slot
4 use the first save when ever you want to make a new character and you will never lose your save again

Ok thanks for the help. Wish I knew this before though. Oh well it'll be as fun going through things a second time anyway

I had this problem too. It's quite a bummer. Funny thing is, I done it simply to see if it would erase my old character if I made a new one.
