The Poison Rune is a Restoration spell. Adept I think.

Ash Shell is like an elongated paralyze that does NOT let you damage them.

I haven't found the whirlwind cloak, but I'm guessing it's under alteration with the rest of the ash spells. Do you get it from Neloth's apprentice?

Whirlwind cloak is destruction and you have to do a quest before you can buy it.

there's also new fire and frost spells while you're wearing ahzidals ring but they're weak

dont they do something like 14 points damage for 15 seconds? with 2.2x dual casting, 25% damage increase with the right mask and a fortify destruction potion they can do some serious lingering damange.

Where do you get the new spells, the idiot apprentice won't sell me anything

Re-load on the idiot and it should change his inventory.
