Is New Vegas confirmed to have any new radio shows?

Post » Tue Jan 11, 2011 9:45 am

I really loved listening to the Adventures of Herbert "Daring" Dashwood while adventuring in FO3. I would be pretty disappointed if Obsidian chooses to not put any new radio shows in New Vegas. I also wish that in FO3 they would've been of longer length and played more frequently. They were a nice break from the music.

I agree, they need more as the Dashwood series got very very repetitive. It'd be awesome if they made a couple of really cool and long ones, that were played weekly on their specific days and at specific times, where it gets to the stage where I'd wait for every Wednesday evening to get my weekly dose of The Adventures of So and So.
But nothing has been confirmed at this stage.

I say they make a show called The Adventures Of Captain Obvious And His Sidekick Sgt. Sarcasm! (I made it up at the 2010 BS Jamboree :D )

I made a script and everything, all my buddies and I thought it was a hilarious idea. His enemy would be Major Metaphor, and he happens to be a complete moron of a super hero. Considering his only weapons are his obviousness and his sword of dramatic irony. :toughninja:

Would be nice with a radio station with 4 people sitting there and jokingly chatting about the wasteland and the problems people have.
That's a talkshow right?
A ghoul, two men, one younger, one older (60's) and a female cyborg.
They try to inform the wasteland on the news but it always end up with them going offtopic and starts joking around about the topic or just abandoning it all together.
I just want a radio stations without "YAOAOOOOOIUW!!!", without music, without herbert stories and without seriousness of serious biscuits news. <_<

agreed, I would like to hear more radio options in general like old broadcast towers that play old time radio prewar stuff/ or different faction radios with their own themes, One thing about FO3 was I was excited to find new broadcast towers at first, then disappointed that 99% of then was Morris code or static short requests, don’t get me wrong I have no problem with the random cry for help-search for this tunnel with loot broadcast, I just wish there was more actual radio stations playing music (I really wished they would have let me kept the Vaults radio music as an option after leaving the vault (even though there were only like 2 or songs on it) I think it could have been cool keeping up to date on the events in the vault after the player left ie throw in random overseer edicts to the vault. Sorry if I wondered off topic.. anyway NV should have radio shows

Not a bad idea, there's enough people in the ncr to support a radio star and apparently everyone listens to the radio.Plus it would be nice to have more than just a "good" channel and a "bad" channel. oh and a really lame classical channel, and i even like classical!

i would like to hear of the adventures of a lone cowboy.

just a man and his dog. kicking ass

the main character would be like the man with no name. a gruff, experienced and brave hero who wanders across the desert occasionaly helping those in need. (as long as the price is right, although he has been known to help out people for free if he felt they deserved it)

he seems like kind of a jerk. but he is a good man at heart.

seems like it would fit the "wild west" setting

Herbert "Daring" Dashwood was awesome. It's a shame there weren't 15-20 episodes. I would have been sure to tune in for that. It just seemed like they didn't play it out as much as they could have. Hopefully we'll get something similar.

looking back at it now......i think i did.

it would go on in the wild west in the late 1800s or extremely early 1900s not post apocalypse.

when i think about it, yeah that does sound like mad max. but i was thinking more along the lines of the ( the good, the bad and the ugly.) and (a fistful of dollars)

I thought it sounded awesome, kinda like a "Lone Ranger" show if you ask me. But I think Fallout has ripped off Mad Max a lot at this point

Now that you mention it, I wonder what the new DJ will be like. Maybe Three Dog made his way out west? lol

I'll also miss the 'fireside chats' with President Eden. Hope the radio is just as good as FO3!

I would love to see The Vault Dweller and or Chosen One's adventures turned into a radio play.

Would be a fun way to show their enduring effect on the people of the wastes and school newer fans aswell.

Well, Crimson Caravan, FotA and perhaps an old Child Of The Catherdal(?) might have something to say about Vault Dweller.
And former Enclave, NCR, Marcus and perhaps Slavers might have something to say about the Chosen One.
Other than that I dunno, I don't think that a lot of people knew about the two heroes.
I mean, a mysterious stranger came into town and fixed the problems they had but I don't know if every single faction and city from the old games made the connection that the work was done by two people.
So a vague story would be nice.
Like an old Vault 8 citizen: "Well we had this problem with Gecko, a nuclear power plant filled with them nasty ghouls, but somehow the problem we had with their radioactive materials being leaked fixed itself. I remember Lynette never really wanted to discuss it. Had to be someone from the outside, if Lynette had it her way then Gecko would be a pile of rubble a long time ago."

Making it a radio show would just defeat the purpose of a the mysterious stranger coming into town and helping them and then setting off on his own personal quest.
Would quite frankly ridicule the old protagonists IMO.

But as I said, vague stories from time to time would be really nice and would help establish canon ending.

By the way, that means that the perk Mysterious Stranger actually brings forth an unknown protagonist from a distant never released game!

Thats what I'm saying, like Dashwood (the first part, not the ridicule thing), not everybody would know who he is but he is most definitely a legend in some circles as seen by some of the Vegas acts that supposedly retell the story of FO1 (and 2), possibly in annoyingly humorous song and dance.

New Vegas is close enough to the core region that it's understandable there are people out there who think The Vault Dweller had a story worth telling, even if they do get it hilariously wrong.
