I say there should be Spears and not just 1 but like for every tier. Also while we're on a weapons topic would like to say they should bring back Umbra ( with a sheath. )
Personally, I would love spears. I would also love Whips and Flails too.
I've always loved that magical damage was broken down into it's elemental components. In TES, it's fairly simple...Fire, Ice, Lightning, or Drain (health/magika/stamina). Other games have things like Poison, Air, Gravity (Final Fantasy).
What you rarely see anymore is PHYSICAL damage types. It's all lumped together as either melee or ranged.
For example: Swords = Slash Damage
Mace/Flail = Pound Damage
Daggers/Spears = Pierce Damage (though sometimes Spears are given their own Thrust damage)
Axes/Battleaxes = Chop Damage
Whips = Whip Damage
and so forth.
I just think it would be cool to see armor components broken down into what they're good against physically, and not just their magical enhancements.
Maybe it could be different weapon. Javelin for mid-range and spears for melee.
As for Javelin or other throwing-weapon, you can recover it when your enemy is dead.
They had throwing spears in FONV, but only the Caesars Legion carried them regularly. They were a lot of fun though if you had the ability to handle the weight.
How cool would it be to actually spread out the armor types to actually be more effective against some forms of damage and weaker against others? It would really encourage you to use your armor to be good against ranged and long-ranged melee (whip, spear, flail) and get in to close to do your short-ranged melee.
