Newinteresting random encounters?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 4:12 am

Have you had any interesting new random encounters since you got the dlc?

The best one I've had so far was when I was cruising along the road to Riften and I saw 3 vigil members milling around in the bushes.
Then one of them says "hey uh, citizen, come here for a second" or words to that effect.

Then I see the 3 corpses on the ground stripped of their robes lol.

Sneaky vampire ambush ftw.

Also I know it's not a random encounter but have you seen what they did to the Hall of the Vigilant?
Talk about overkill.

I've come across more than one vampire cowering in fear while a group of Vigilants mercilessly beat them.

I have a question. The random city attacks... bad or fine ? Lots of people complaining... it's making me sceptical about buying the DLC.

It can be annoying but the guards do help you,and they're fairly weak.(playing on adept)

Had a courier bring me a note from Calcelmo asking me to meet him after I picked up some dwarven bolts, not sure if DLC specific or not.

I've been reading those reports too, I am mildly concerned but so far haven't really had much trouble.
I've only had 1 vamp attack in a city, which I think was scripted as an excuse for the DG recruiter to approach you.
The guards pretty much crumped them in seconds, I didn't even get a chance to swing my sword.

Aside from that I was ambushed in superb style on the road by those 3 cheeky vampire fledglings but they were easily dispatched.

I'm lvl 37 on this character, have been to Riften (reported as getting heavy vamp trouble) several times with no sign of vampires, going to Markarth next so we'll see what happens.

Has anyone checked if there is variations in the rate of attacks or any other hidden "rules"? So for example, they increase in frequency as you progress through the DG MQ?
Or is it just a case of the rate being a low constant but the vamps level (and therefore risk to npcs) increasing with the players level?

I dunno, as it stands I like the idea of vamp attacks on towns and so far it's been less of an impact than dragons, but we'll see... if it is a genuinely serious issue (which I'm not convinced of yet tbh) we'll all know soon enough and sheer force of bwaa will get it fixed.

Is hall of vigilant a quest related thing? It won't break anyhing if I go in now will it?

I don't know if my games glitched but since I sided with the Vampires all the vampire raiding parties that creep along the roads and hang near towns are never hostile to me though supposedly for other people they are.

Well..when I block out the sun anyway.

I'm glad to see atleast one good constructive post  . I said in my other posts that if the vampires didn't pose that much of a threat like killing everyone in a town like some people are reporting, I won't mind it much... also if they aren't as frequent. If they spawn like once in every 20-50 fast travels and don't do much damage, I'm fine with that - otherwise, killing off an entire city is fully game breaking for me and I don't like it :'(

How could it be? Dwarven bolts weren't there in vanilla... or did he do it for any Dwarven weapon you get?

if the vampires didn't post that much of a threat like killing everyone in a town like some people are reporting:'(

This is the problem atm... some are saying "oh it's no worse than dragons" while others are talking about entire populations being slaughtered and "ghost towns" etc.

The first is fine and I welcome it... the second is not cool.
If vamps are killing off entire towns (again, not convinced of this), there is no way that feature is working as intended so it'll have to be fixed.

Either way it's too late for me to back out of the dlc now, so I guess I'll find out.

Unsure... I heard something about the hall being attacked when the DG leader was talking to the Vigilant dude when you first go into castle Dawnguard.
So I just went straight there (I had a soft spot for the Vigil, was always disappointed I couldn't join).

I'm wondering now if it gets that way as soon as the game loads the dlc or only after you actually first go into castle Dawnguard.

Either way just looking around didn't have any impact on my quest status... it's actually on the way to the first actual quest so you may want to just wait until you go that way naturally.
