News That Shocks You

Post » Thu Aug 29, 2013 6:46 pm

Have you ever come across a news article that makes you cringe, feel disgusted, or make you question humanity? I find myself to have a strong will, but http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/28/woman-gouges-out-boys-eyes-china_n_3828703.html. Hope that technology advances enough so that it can return to him what was lost.

Yeah, that definitely sent shivers up my spine.

I'm primarily disgusted that people these days are just straight up killing for the fun of it or "for Trayvon". Neither of those reasons is legitimate for ending another human being's life. It's really starting to get on my nerves.

The most recent story is one that just loves to pop into my news feed and make me angry/down about it. It's the story about the 88-year-old World War 2 veteran who was beaten to death. I can't even write more about it, it just makes me sick. My thoughts go out to his family, I can't get over that story.

Yes, I forgot to mention that story. That sickens me on a very deep level.

This http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murders_of_Channon_Christian_and_Christopher_Newsom still constitutes the worst story I've ever seen.

The kids said they killed him because he didn't sell them enough crack cocaine or something...

I don't want to seem unsympathetic or like a body lacking emotion, but I don't remember the last article that shocked me.

I am not surprised at the fact that any of these things happen, and perhaps that is why I am not shocked.

That's not to say that I am unaffected by it. I don't follow CNN, HLN, Fox, [insert station/online source here] because too much of daily coverage FOCUSES on these things; murders, raqes, pedophilia, suicides...

I just don't like it. I spent my summer doing an internship working with refugees... My point, I rather be helping than just sitting around absorbing so much of this information. It helps me cope with it, since I know these things happen. If it's not something that is overhyped in media (any crime aforementioned without the point of useless precedence or statistic updating), then I'll sit down and watch, but if it's the same old [same crime, new people scenario insert here], I don't want to pay attention. :nope:

But back off tangent, I can't remember the last article that shocked me.

none of it shocks me. especially when you consider human history and all the atrocities. just the way people have treated other people (and animals) in the past and it continues today.

our skins may have thinned and we are not used to such horrible behavior. when everything eventually hits the fan, I think we will see even worse behavior than we see today.

of course I don't like it and I am saddened by all of it.

I was extremely shocked when I found out Rick James kidnapped, sixually assaulted and tortured a woman with a crack pipe for three days.

Eh. I'm not surprised anymore with everything I've read and saw... It's just sad...
