I'm hoping the next big news release will be that the servers will be cross-platform.
Keeping everyone, regardless of the platform they're on, playing together will make for a far more resilient and cohesive community.

They already said they wont, and for good reason. Any time a game goes cross platform, the PC community destroys the console players... it would be unfair.
The only way for them to make that happen is to have both the Xbox and PS4 require a Mouse/Keyboard so there is 0 difference between the games.
I hope they never do. There are so many more cons that come from cross-platform (patching is the main issue here) than there are pros.
I wish it would happen so I can prove folks like you wrong.
There are some good console players, no debating that, but it's well known that you have a faster reaction time with KB + M than controllers.
And maybe you would... I don't know. But it's happened in the past... there's a few games that have done this, and it happened exactly as I described. There was one shooter in particular, name escapes me... They had to later break into separate servers because it was so imbalanced.
I'm not saying the PC gamers are just more leet, I play consoles too... I don't magically become worse at life while playing xbox (Well, I don't think...), but after playing BF3 on both, I can definitely say my competition, and my personal play were better on PC by an overwhelming margin.
There's just no way that you're better with a controller than with a M+KB with the same practice... Hell, just owning a Naga puts you in front of someone without one honestly.
No way I would ever play a cross-platform MMO. I'm not even that keen on the current multi-platform model (separate clients for each platform).
Only in some fantasy fairy tale would that happen. It's already been proven, it's considered gaming law. The best console players have already been pitted against some of the worst PC players and the worst pc players destroyed them so much every single match. It was so badly one sided that Microsoft pulled the plug on the idea of shared servers. Even if Zenimax said screw it we are doing it anyways Microsoft would tell them no to save Xbox players the embarrassment.
If they booted the xbox one out of the equation, then they could cross platform the PC/mac and PS4 crowds. Microsoft doesn't like to play nicely with anyone but itself though, so that's what you get is segregation.
It's already fact that they won't be, lol.
You mean besides when they HAVE done cross platform right? They've done it before. A good example is Shadowrun.
