Hey,

I'm using LizTail's AnimKit for the first time, and I have installed Dirnae's new animations. The problem I'm having is, every now and again I get a bunch of errors, like so:

Can anyone help me here? I've tried using the "Fix All" button in the AnimKit. I've also looked around for solutions, but the ones I found I didn't really understand.

It's because tha AnimKit add toe in the animations meshes.

Have you checked the MCP's option "Improved Animation"? If yes unchecked this ;)

I potentially owe you a massive "thank you!" as I did indeed have that option checked - but I won't know if it's fixed until I have a bit more time to test it.

So, do people still use LizTail's AnimKit or has it basically been overriden by MCP? Or does LizTail's AnimKit already include the features included in MCP?
To be honest, animations really confuse me...

I recommend against using it unless you're having animation issues. The reason being is because the kit adds toe and tail bones, but not in a way that allows the animations to know that they should be looking for those toe and tail bones, leading to the issues you've had. If you are having animation issues, try reinstalling them first. If that doesn't work, then try the MCP fix. The kit is great if you're making animation files because you can split them apart and combine various different ones to make a single one. It's not so great for the end user though.

I am using both the AnimKit and the MCP "Improved Animation Support" options, though, so I'm not sure why it isn't working for you. Which version of the animations are you using? I've got the version Hrnchamd released with the "fixed footsteps" and it seems to work fine together.

Try the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=9020 mod. I made it specifically with this problem in mind. With it you do not need the AnimKit or the MCP advanced animation support (actually, you shouldn't have it activated). I am not aware of any mods that take advantage of it, anyway.

I had the same problem as Danjb without LizTail's AnimKit with the 0.21 version, but that was only when I launch Morrowind the first time and after that no error message. :)

You shouldnt check the MCP Improved Animation Support option, it would change or break the animations you would be using from any other mod.
When i tried my mod Combat Redefined on a new computer the 1st person animations weren`t playing correctly like they used to in my latptop and i found out the reason was i had ticked the Improved Animation Support option.

Thanks for all the replies, although I'm still a little bit confused about which, if any, of the MCP's "Improved Animation Support" and LizTail's AnimKit to use.

Having read the readme for Artaios' Animation Compilation (thanks for that by the way), I think the best option for me is to uninstall LizaTail's AnimKit and install the Animation Compilation (and NOT to re-check MCP's animation functionality?).

Does this sound like a good solution? Also, is it straightforward to uninstall LizTail's AnimKit? If I just run the uninstaller, will that essentially revert the animations in my game to how they were?

No, the changes will not be reverted if you simply uninstall the AnimKit. I am not sure how many files the kit actually alters but if you install my mod over it everything should be fine. (If not, well, we'll talk more about that if a problem arises.) Uninstall the kit but first uninstall any animation mods that you installed using it.

a little tip for you is that if you are recieving errors about toe and tail animations open the anim file in nifskope and remove the toe and tail bones be careful that you don't remove them from beast animations though. the best thing to do in my opinion is to keep the tools from the anim kit and download akavirs anim replacer and dirnaes walk run with weapons and thuggwertys casting and djoks sneaking then use the split_kf.exe to seperate akavirs anims then find the anims you like from each one and place in a folder I use dirnaes walk and run with weapons, then akavirs sneaking anims but since akavir missed the sneak 1handed I use the one from Djoks since they match up perfectly and then thuggwerty's casting then use the merge_kf.exe to merge the anim. Open it in nifskope and delete the toe and tail bones and rename it Xbase_anim.kf and drop in your meshes folder.

Edit make sure you layer the ones you wanna keep over the default anims split the original if you must

a little tip for you is that if you are recieving errors about toe and tail animations open the anim file in nifskope and remove the toe and tail bones be careful that you don't remove them from beast animations though. the best thing to do in my opinion is to keep the tools from the anim kit and download akavirs anim replacer and dirnaes walk run with weapons and thuggwertys casting and djoks sneaking then use the split_kf.exe to seperate akavirs anims then find the anims you like from each one and place in a folder I use dirnaes walk and run with weapons, then akavirs sneaking anims but since akavir missed the sneak 1handed I use the one from Djoks since they match up perfectly and then thuggwerty's casting then use the merge_kf.exe to merge the anim. That's exactly what my mod does though ;o) (except for the sneaking, which I don't like).

I was giving Danjb the knowledge and info to make his own compilation if nothing else worked.
PS: I love the sneaking it was the one thing I found missing in your mod which I used for like a month before experimenting with my own

Thank goodness for that! It was starting to sound rather complicated :P

I was giving Danjb the knowledge and info to make his own compilation if nothing else worked.
