well, since I'm one of those screwed people that already have their retail copy and can't even install until friday, I can only comment on the ewasome looking map and pretty detailed manual. It's 20 pages long, has coloured images and even what seems to be book excerpts. I want to congratulate Bethesda for this, at least it's something to read while waiting until friday.
Oh, so the standard copy comes with a colored manual? THANK GOD! I hate getting manuals with grey pages, ugh. I'll be reading through that one for sure then!
I have a legitimate retail copy of the game, the store sold it, I paid for it. there are no story spoilers of any kind in the manual. Seeing that there are stores selling it, why would this be considered a spoiler ? I am not doing anything wrong lol, just commenting on the good work that went into the manual, and yes, there are some new screenshots in it
Its actually the thing i look at mostly, now, the back of teh box xD lol
I used to read manuals like back to front, before even putting the game on but now i dont, infact last manual i read was OB's, so i reckon i will this time round.
OP, your copy is a pre-order, right? How is the quality of the premium map? Can you describe him, please?
it's a paper map, with special textures so that the map feels and looks like a cross between cloth and parchment, that's awesome. Regions, cities and towns are written on the map, the cartographer is named Nataly Dravarol and the date on the map is 64E 182
what's interesting to me is that all of the major cities are located on the edges of Skyrim, so the center region of the map looks quite 'unexplored', with one exception, the city of Whiterun
It's only 20 pages? OB's is 49 and FO3 is 47. What gives? Thought it was supposed to be bigger because there is more content? They must have left out most of the in world activities such as crafting.
I always remember when I got new games as a kid, I'd always love to sit in the car on the way home reading the manual and getting even more excited. Those days are gone now. 1 because I can't read a manual while I'm driving, and 2 because manuals these days are usually a few pages long and svck
I'll try to translate a piece of text in the manual.
the cities of skyrim are proof of the skill and craftsmanship of the nord. the most important cities are Solitude, residence of the High King and capital of the province; Windhelm, antique and honoured, a juwel in the snow; Markath, hewn in the rocks itself, in a time long forgotten; Riften, located in the golden shadows of Fall Forest, where delicious fish and honey come from; and Whiterun, built around the ( front portal?) of Jorrvask, the house of the most noble Companions and the honoured Skyforge
Thank God there is actually a decent manual. FIFA 12's manual consisted of a folded piece of paper and only included stuff like warranty... Bethesda is usually good at this thing so I am happy.

Thanks! Very good, very good indeed.
BTW, don't strange this question, but do you think the map is some kind of waterproof?
(in case I want to frame the map and not be afraid that the map will take "moisture" - not sure if this is the word, maybe "humidity" instead - in the corners)

Or none existent. I opened up BF3, and there was a manual sleeve, and like, no manual lol . The manual is in the game, and i got it 360. Batman: Arkham City also did it, also 360.

ehrm lol, it's certainly worth framing, I would say it's certainly more waterproof thn a regular paper map, but forgive me if Im not going to experiment on that but it looks and feels way more sturdy thn a piece of papier, it's not going to disintegrate if you pour water on it, so I'd say it's quite humidity resilient. but thn agein, Im no expert in these things

LOL... Ok, thanks again I appreciate your answer
Since I pre-order too (to PC), I will get a quality map like yours soon, and I will go frame mine must probably.
Black and white you say ? that would make no sense, I dont see the screenshots on page 3, 5 and 7 to be be comprehensive in black and white lol. just to clarify, I have the PC regular special edition ( the one with the map, so it's not really a special edition, it's the only one you can buy here in belgium beside the collector's edition and it's normal price).
