Nickel & Diming Players

Post » Tue May 28, 2013 3:09 am

Lately I have been reading a lot more about how gaming companies have aggressively started to nickel and dime players such as EA and Trion. And I'm sure others have started to nickel and dime players for almost everything from adding an extra inventory slot too cosmetics /raiding time to having to pay for emotes to chat and much more. Would you still play ESO if after one year, one day you logged in one and found that you had to start playing for any and all changes to your character and were limited to what changes you were offered. And do you blame the F2P model for these added cost and the use of resources that supports F2P model as a cause on why players are being nickel and dimed to death today and how far should this go when looking and ESO.

I would agree that game companies are starting to go a little too far in the extra content they add to net more profits. People do pay the cost so that they can have it. Take SW:TOR for example, you have a multitude of different sets that you as a low level can have and mod out through your career as a character. To initially get those items you have to spend real money to get them. Almost everyone does one way or another acquires them and it causes many to think its OK. The standard 14.99 a month for everyone to pay, without any additions that doesn't involve expansion from in game play over time should be the only acceptable rate.

You give people the option to spend real money to get ahead and they usually almost always go that route no matter how they feel on the subject. That is in a sense is the worse kind of nickel diming possible.

I really wish players would learn to read expense reports. Its not an issue with "nickel and diming" its with costs continuing to increase and gamers in general refusing to pay a higher cost.
