NightBlade Skill tree Speculation

Post » Wed Apr 24, 2013 10:09 pm

This is pure speculation, what would you guys guess the 3 NightBlade skill trees will be?

(1) Assasinating : positonal attacks, sneak opening attacks, Hit N Run, favors daggers and bow

(2) Shadow magic : Controlling effects, shadow teleporting, magic damage, deception

(3) Weakness Figher : Poisons, debuffs, damage over time, making target much less effective, favors swords and axes

Just my guesses and ideas

Shadow Assassin: Stealth based

Ranger: Bow, ranged based

Tactical fighter: CC, control, support based.

I don't think so, at least not on the first two, any more than dragon knight has an axe and heavy armor tree or a sorcerer has a staff and light armor tree. Bows are covered by the general bow tree, and stealth by the medium armor tree.

They will likely have control abilities in a distinct tree (the other classes certainly do), but they will probably have a weapon-agnostic dps tree (throwing knives, like the guy in the teaser video, perhaps), and some manner of utility tree (where the templar has healing, sorcerers having 'summoning,' and dragon knights have 'damage resist'). If zeni is boring it will be a second dps tree. I wouldn't be surprised at movement abilities with a few temporary stealth effects.

But the pattern does seem to be DPS tree, CC tree and class-specific utility tree.

Proposed skill trees don't fit with what we know of the other three classes, ie: that pretty much every class skill is 'magic'.

Illusion Magic for assistance w/ stealth and distraction/CC

Physical buff magic, to make them move faster, jump higher (possibly attack faster) - very mobility focused.

Probably some sort of more agressive line of damage, potentially frost or poison or darkness themed.

Keep in mind that none of the class trees for any class favors any weapon or armor choice by their stats alone (Naturally of course a skill tree related to casting benefits from Light armor). But the whole idea is not to lead players towards decisions by tool tips. Thus a stealth skill tree line with daggers and bows is out of the question.

I'm basing this on Sorcerer transported from Morrowind class to similar pattern, yet the names were unique:

I'm going to go with:

Manipulation (Magic spec):
Illusion, Alteration & Mysticism equivalent skill tree line.
2 buffs
2 CC's
2 survivability spells

Martial Prowess (Speed attribute):
The physical combat skill line equivalent of short blade, unarmed & light armor morrowind skills:
2 damage spells (throwing dagger being one of them!)
3 utility
1 survivability

Enhanced power (Will power attribute):
To bring them close to their class of enhancing their physical capabilities as a spell caster:
3 buffs
1 survivability
1 damage
1 CC
