Nightblade?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 5:50 pm

So, I wanna play a nightblade. I'm thinkin' Breton or Argonian with this sort of perk layout, maybe a Vampire or maybe not, I dunno.

Spreads points too thin. And since I'm not using archery, poison's don't really need a whole lot of ability to end fights. I figure a basic paralysis poison will do everything I need.

A nightblade usually uses destruction...

Vampire is a good boost to a nightblade. However, I would forget the light armor myself as you won't be hit that often if you actually play it like a nightblade and not just a one-handed warrior in leather.

Calm and sneak makes every combat a one or two hit sneak attack in which the enemy never gets a chance to even swing at you. Choice of race is actually a non-issue with this game except for RP purposes.

You think I should drop the Light Armor and replace it with some points in Destruction?

Adding destruction in there could help. Maybe replace alteration with destruction? Conjuration on its own as offense might be a little too less..
I'd like to try nightblade build on my next play through too, since assassin build had been very enjoyable for me. :P

I suppose everyone has their own view on what a nightblade entails.

The nightblade I envisioned and played was a master of sneak and illusion. I could sneak while running with muffle even at low levels. Calm makes sneaking behind them for an easy backstab with a dagger. You don't need any other real offense than a dagger as once you have the sneak bonuses and a few items that double stealth attack damage, your dagger will be doing 30x damage in no time. This pretty much triggers the 'throat-slit' animation every time and if its something big that doesn't die right away, another dose of calm spell will make them forget all about what you just did and you can repeat the backstab another time, guaranteed to kill just about everything in the game aside from dragons.

At lower levels, a novice level turn undead spell will make undead easy to deal with until you are capable of calming them as well. Groups of enemies can be made to fight each other with fury while you stay hidden waiting for the lone victor to be left for your calm/backstab.

I have a similar build to Falmer's, but instead of calm I use invisibility for when I do get spotted, or sometimes paralyze spell. I've still not tried out the spells like fear, calm etc. These names that people give their builds always amuse me, I never know what half of them mean, like Nightblade or Paladin I ain't got the foggiest lol.

Cancelled my archer build with 60+ hours on the file last night, I powered levelled her so I could get all the sneak and archery perks along with fully smithed out bows, anyway she got too powerful so I started a new archer today. Six hours in with no grinding and I already have archery upto 54, gonna be another silly powerful character as I couldnt resist running straight to the bound bow so I was rocking that at an early level.

A nightblade is a spellcaster who uses magic to benefit his circumstances, enhancing mobility, concealment and stealthy close combat.

Typically your skill set should be picked from:
- Alteration
- Destruction
- Restoration
- Illusion
- one-handed
- light armor
- sneak
(- archery)
In which you can limit yourself to as few or as many as you wish.
