Nighteye aesthetics

I'm curious about the appearance of Nighteye this go around. Is it still a washed out, low contrast blue?

What do cats actually see at night? Do cats even see in color?

Night vision is grayscale.

Rods and cones contain photoreceptors that transfer light to vision centers in the brain. The photoreceptors work by a rather complex process: they first convert light into chemical energy, and then into electrical energy, before sending it through the optic nerve to the brain.

Rods are specialized to perceive dim light and are the first receptors to detect movement and register shapes, yet they cannot detect color. There are about 126 million rods in each eye.

Cones function best in bright daylight. They allow people to see colors and fine detail. Cones are divided into three different types, which absorb wavelengths of light in the short (blue), middle (green), and long (red) ranges. There are about 6 million cones in each eye.

i hate most night vision graphics, cause it takes a way a lot from the graphic flavor and u usually cant really see more...so i am really wondering about this too,,,also if you maybe see better in storms? dungeons i have seen so far were never so dark that you really needed the night vision

I saw somewhere the ability to have 'enhanced nighteye' (or something like that). I wonder what that is.

Night vision is grayscale.

Mm hmm. mammalian vision is handled through 4 channels not 3 - in addition to cones which can be thought of as an RGB component in a monitor, they also have an intensity sensitive receptor (rods) which only handles intensity, not colour information

Under night-time conditions the intensity is too low to trigger the colour receptors, but the intensity receptors can still fire - more or less. So you're only seeing in a single channel (ie. black and white... or at least monotone).

Technical stuff aside though, I hope to hell they do a better job of the nighteye shader this time.

Honestly I wish activating night eye just adjusted the brightness in your settings for its duration.

Light spells increase your chance to be detected, which is why Nighteye is preferable. I'm very familiar with both spells, so my question isn't about the mechanics or benefits of one versus the other. I'm simply interested in the appearance at this point.

I hope there are some items giving the night eye effect like rings or amulets.

I am not planning to use any magic on my Nord warrior.

If you're on the PC, there was a mod for Oblivion called "Nighteye Shader Replacement" by Timeslip, I'm sure a similar one will be developed for Skyrim. I had mine set to almost normal coloring with a little bit of brightness.

Im missing a persentage of cones, colourblind. Not greyscale just colours that use shades.... Synthetic camo doesnt work for me, but i find it hard to see animals in their own environment.

The more you know, and all that. Love you xx
