Nintendo 64; great games?

Post » Mon Aug 26, 2013 1:40 pm

So I decided to crack out the ol' n64 from its box (even bothering to carry it for the 2 hour journey from my old home to my flat.... *+*+*commitment*+*+*)

Ordered a new cable so i can use it on my digital tv which I'm now anxiously awaiting.... However.
I've realised that I only have 6 or so games I actually enjoy playing (the others being some crap my sister bought). 3 of these I really love, and so the weight/journey of it was worth it just for them.

So I was wondering if anyone could recommend any great games? I never bought any myself so I don't even 'remember' what games are out there for the N64.

Spoiler
The games I currently own are Super Mario 64, Glover, 2x Star Wars games, pokemon stadium, pokemon snap, wetrix, quake, Rayman 2, donkey kong, diddy kong racing, 007, robotrons, and one other that I won't mention due to :$
I've never been interested in zelda unfortunately, so this recommendation wouldn't be great really.

Mario Kart 64! I never owned an N64, but I spent hours playing that game with the people who did.

And, of course, Goldeneye 007.

I've heard (from you guys :P) that Perfect Dark was pretty good. That was for N64, right?

Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie.

Forget Donkey-Kong 64 or Conker's Bad Fur Day, the BK series is a must get for the N64!

Mario Kart 64. Own it on the Wii Virtual Console. If you have friends to play with, it's a blast!

Harvest Moon 64 - One of my all time favorite games, not for everyone though.
Goldeneye - For its time, a great FPS. It has not aged well though. The control scheme is just really different than modern games.
Perfect Dark - Same issues as with Goldeneye.
Star Fox 64 - One of the games I have played in the last few years when I break out the 64.
Banjo-Kazooie - Similar to Donkey Kong 64.

I also have fond memories of Mario Kart, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, and Mario Party, though a LOT of that was having someone to play with.

In general, the best games for the 64 were either developed by Nintendo or Rare. There are exceptions to that though.

I really enjoy harvest moon on the NDS - is it similar?

And yeah, I played 007 about 3 years back... Difficult to control I remember :(

Goldeneye, Ocarina of Time, Starfox 64 and Mario 64 were among my favorites.. although I did play quite a few others as well. Goldeneye is what ended up making me a Bond fan. :D

1. GoldenEye 007 - This game is still the epitome of multiplayer, imho. It's a really great game, the actual achievements to unlock cheats were great, and the bonus content is worthwhile. Enemies are dumb when compared to newer advances in AI programing, but they were pretty smart.

2. Mariokart 64- Another great game to play with friends or alone.

3. Perfect Dark - I believe it was made by the same team that made Golden Eye 007, this is a good game to have on hand. The AI is more impressive, there are minigames to complete, and some cool weapons to mess around with.

4. Super Mario 64 - A must have game, without a doubt. You'll keep going for quite some time to get all the stars in the game.

5. Starfox 64 - Oldschool fun game to mess around with. Loved this with the rumble pack.

I respect your opinion.

Sadly your opinion is wrong.

Get Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask peasant. :stare:
