Noble Centurion character build

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 9:12 pm

ok guys. i usually "go it alone" when it comes to making characters, but im not so good when it comes to Melee fighter builds.

the guy i want to create is essentially a noble Centurion warrior that fights with honor for Caesar. he does not just randomly kill members of the NCR. he is not a Brute, and he is not cruel.

i need to know what a good character build might be, what traits i should take, what skills i should level, and what my special should be, also what perks would you suggest.

Ps. he is going it alone, so charisma is 1.

Well, I'm not great at character building, but if you're going it alone and melee, I would not take the Kamikazi trait which lowers your DT and I would plan on taking the Toughness perks that increases your DT. I would go very high on strength and reasonably high on endurance. For skill tags I would consider survival, melee and sneak. Keeping medicine and unarmed (because at least one really good perk relies on a high melee and unarmed skill level) in mind for gradual increase might be good too.

That's all probably not that helpful, but it's just what I would be keeping in mind if I were to build such a character. :P

SPECIAL: I'm terrible at putting numbers down for these, but I'm guessing you'd want high strength and mid-to-high charisma and intelligence. Think about a guy kinda like Silus, the Centurion who's a prisoner at McCarran.

For skills, I'd put more into Melee, Unarmed, Speech/Barter and perhaps Survival and Medicine?

Perks, I really don't know...
Here's the wikia page on perks: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_perks

I'd think you'll end up picking up the ones more relevant to melee/unarmed, though I'd still recommend taking things like Jury Rigging.

High skills... STR, END, Luck
Low skills... PER, INT, CHA

If you are going melee also go unarmed. They go well together, and the rare fist weapon is about the only answer to BoS'ers.
Sneak is a skill you should not skimp on. Melee + hidden == dead NCR without any rep loss.

If you go low INT (I went with 3) grab that perk that gives you 2 extra skill points per lvl early.

When you go all in for the Legion don't forget to put on NCR gear while at the strip, and to take it back off before going to the Fort... I died countless times due to this :( .

If at any time you don't want to go alone grab Raul... He is the only companion that kinda likes the Legion.
