NobleThane build ideas

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 5:02 am

I wanna make a kind of Noble/Thane character and of cause getting the Thane title in most Holds and use a Housecarl/Huscarl, but on what skills/weapons/clothes/race to use is where I need some ideas.
Well as all NPC Thanes are Nord it would be the most likely, thoughts?

Begin

Well, since this is Skyrim I agree that a Nord is the best choice.
Since war is a part of their culture I would believe that he/she will have some martial training so I'd say either one or two handed weapons, and maybe an armor skill.
Speech, obviously. Information is valuable currency for any nobleman and thane.

I am not sure about skills outside that as thieving doesn't seem fitting and neither does magic. Smithing is maybe a bit to "common" for a nobleman and enchanting is magic so that leaves alchemy as a crafting skill.

Yeah I'm also lost after speech and a melee skill, and as you say smithing too common, magic is not fit for a Noble/Thane of Skyrim.
Have given archery a though as many nobles likes hunting as a game, and maybe some blocking skills as a Noble/Thane should know how to defend him/her self.

Don't really know about an armor skill, as I was thinking about using some fine clothes. But could use the Boots and gauntlets of cause.

I agree on using fine chothing, but there migth be a time when even a nobleman must make a last stand. Poor time ot not have armor.

If you side with the Stormcloaks Jarl Balgruuf will use steel plate armor when you attack Whiterun.

He does look mighty fine in his armor, but it's also a challenge not to use a set of armor

Indeed. You should perk block as well then, though unless you intend to use a shield it will be weak for a long time in the game.

true, i wear mostly clothes with my current warrior and like the challenge each fight brings. A noble should wear fancy clothes and have a warrior beside them to handle most of the dirty work. I'd say use alot of shouts as nobles usually handle conflict with words, why not use dragon words? ;)

It will also heighten your status since the Thu'um is well respected.

Shouts and a female character, well it fits perfectly  hah

Which side would be most fitting for this character?
As I'm divided by pros and cons from each side.

I made one that I made as a Thanes daughter from outside of Skyrim. I don't know enough about the Lore To make a complete back story but she was a high elf that came to Skyrim to help with the efforts of the Thalmor control of Skyrim.
