What are people's thoughts on random events from Non PCs (monsters)?
Let me explain my thinking. I am sure you guys/gals can help flush this idea out.
Other games have tried something similar but I found them too routine and planned. To keep things changing and keeping players off their toes:
(all random):
1) Ambush: At random times certain locations along random spots along random roads a group of creatures (or bandits) are spawned.
Intended affect: Makes road travel less predictable and more alive. Players have no idea when and where this could happen. Might yield additional gold drops
2) Adventuring party: Randomly a moving group of creatures outside the norm of the area are adventuring, fight would be tougher then the normal area but would yield a higher magic drop
3) Raiding party: Town/farm/mine is attacked by a group of raiders/bandits where/when who knows?
4) Thief in village/town: A bad guy or group thereof run past or is in hiding
5) For PvP: Keep is attacked by NPC monster group, giants or what not decide it's time to tear the walls down and besiege a keep
The point being these would be seemingly random where and when. Some players may never see them
