Nontraditional Talents

What are some of your nontraditional talents?

By this, I mean those talents that aren't really typical. So, instead of saying you having an apt for guitar or can sing, you can say something less traditional that you do particularly well, be it hacking, forging signatures, mimicking voices, etc. You know, the talents you wouldn't really list for your parents.

One of my nontraditional talents include accents. I can do accents really, really, REALLY, well. I have a large range too. It may seem weird or stupid but whatever, I can sound British/Arab/Indian, you name it.

What are some of yours?

I can sound like Jeff Baker if that counts for anything. :teehee:

I'm good with languages

I know the basics of 7 languages (and by basics I mean enough to get by if I suddenly woke up with a nasty hangover in a country where people speak one of those 7 languages) and I'm fluent in 3 of those 7.

That's cool, I must say. I tried learning German, I only got through the bare necessities of the language. I might try picking it up again.

Yeah I had to learn German in high school, didn't really like the language at the time but it's actually pretty useful. There are sooo many German websites it really makes a difference just knowing the absolute basics.

I'm okay with accents too. I've tricked people into thinking I'm from places I haven't even been before. Like Australia. :P

But if you know me (and have heard my regular accent) from beforehand, it loses it's touch, and you can tell it's fake. It only works with strangers, it seems. Or over the phone on a few occasions.

People say that I'm really good at whistling. I can whistle a tune almost perfectly for memory better than I can sing. It is actually really fun, and I guess not many people can do that.

I'm pretty good at http://i.imgur.com/UjSyS.jpg.

I have no special talents. I'm a fast learner, that's my main talent. I have basic skills in a variety of things as a result, but I don't enough passion for anything to get good at it.

That's funny, I've been whistling a lot recently. I'll listen to a song and will just whistle the tune all day, not even sing it, I would just whistle!

I used to be really bad at whistling and could only manage a small little chirp on a good day. But now, it flows out really loud and full. Not particularly a "talent" I say I would have (lots of professional whistlers if I'm not mistaken) but I definitely do it a lot more than normal. It's a habit now, haha.

I'm extremely talented at losing friends and throwing world-class tantrums, and no matter how much I spank the monkey, it always needs more.

Edit: Oh, and I have an insanely high tolerance for violence, gore and shock material overall.

Oh, and I don't consider it a talent, since it's not really built in, but a learned thing, but I know plenty languages too.

I can speak English, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu and Hindi fluently. Can understand every word of Punjabi, Dari, and Turkish but can't speak either to save my life. And I can get by in French and Arabic.

Apart from that, I know plenty of swear words in various languages. And a few words of Japanese.

I'm sure this can be a good thing.

Capability for multiple orgisms could be quite appeasing to a potential partner.

I know an absurd amount of song lyrics; people will say or sing part of a song and see if I can guess what song it is. I'll say that eighty-five percent of the time I get it right.
I learn fast; if I see something a time or two then practise a little, I get it figured out.
Also, I have a bizarre intuitive knack for fixing things, even if I've never worked on such a thing before.

Oh really?

I've seen the vast majority of the "video nasties", and I occasionally browse some shock sites and come up with my own material (for this story I'm writing that I'll likely never finish). I suppose it came off as gloating, but it's true.

Edit: All fictional, mind you. I'm a bit queasy when I'm around the real stuff, but as long as I can view it through a "window", per say, I've got a very strong stomach for it. For example, I once watched a nurse put an IV in my arm before surgery and I got a tad lightheaded. Yet I can watch and read the most heinous, degrading, utterly revolting [censored] and not mind much at all unless it's a character in a story who I grew attached to.

I'm very good at whistling without having it look like I'm whistling. Stealth whistling, as it were.

I can forge signatures. I used to be an assistant to the performing arts coordinator at my college and I regularly forged her name on forms and things that she didn't want/have time to sign.

I love the X-Files, and I can recognize any actor from that show on anything else, even if they just played a bit part.

I'm also really talented at coming up with unique swears, which helps me fit in with all my guy friends.

I've got perfect pitch, but I suppose that's more of a mainstream talent.

I can do something like that. It's basically just making a really sharp, high pitched "sss" noise. It sounds like a boiling tea kettle. I did during class back in 11th grade almost all the time. The teacher would be looking directly at me, and not know it's me. :P

But sooner or later, I became notorious for this ability, and all teachers figured out it was me, and not the nonexistent kettle in the staff room I used to blame it on. To make matters works, some chick in the back knew how to do it as well, and then she started doing it. However, since I was known for this, I used to take the heat for it.

And I was never even mean to her!

I'm not sure if it can be considered any kind of talent.. but I tend to have a higher level of thinking about certain things, and my thoughts are fueled by the shows I watch. Being that I'm aspiring to be an author one day, I hope to write a lot of books reflecting these thoughts as well. I also have a strong memory and remember things from my childhood, which makes me miss it twice as much .

I wish I was that good at languages.. I know very little Spanish (don't care to learn another word of it though) and hope to one day learn the Russian language as well.

Lots of people say that about themselves, so it's pretty much impossible to bring up the topic of personal intelligence without sounding like a moron. But I don't care, you seem plenty smart to me. :-)

Hehe, thanks

Being the kind of person that I am, I can think more freely when I'm not constantly bothered and I tend to keep to myself a lot.. I have lots of ideas for books written down as well but it's not the right time to focus on really getting into them. One day soon, I hope to let my imagination spill out onto paper .
