Now, Dark Elf "does" make more sense for stealth wise. If I go the path of Dark Elf, I may follow the same storyline as Drizzt Do'Urden (from Forgotten Realms)...he doesn't like his own kind and wants to be different from the others of his kin. I know it isn't creative (at all)...but I really like that storyline for Dark Elves (and Forgotten Realms is the reason Dark Elves are so cool for me). Dark Elves look the best (in my opinion) of the Elven races in Skyrim.
But, at the same time...Nord seems to make a lot more sense, doesn't it? In the aspect that, they really fit the setting. And I've played Nords before in previous Elder Scrolls. They make more sense to me, with the setting, than Dark Elves do. But I guess my Dark Elf could be a survivor after his land was devastated.
Now, seeing as it appears that I can't have more than one character at a time (is that correct? I noticed that my saves get overwritten)...I originally planned to have two characters. A "brother" and "sister" combo. I always choose male characters to start with, but then I get into the game and choose a female. And Nord females (I know I know, its a game...but still...) are rather nice looking. Nord males look awesome too. Dark Elves don't look too bad either, though.
There is of course Wood Elves and the Khajiit. Wood Elves fit nicely seeing as I love naturehttp://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/forum/118-skyrim-general-discussion/ and stuff...but, I don't really like their lore and even though I like nature, I can't ever get into Wood Elf races for some reason.
And Khajiit...well...they look actually rather nice. A lot better than in previous Elder Scrolls. And I can customize them to fit the setting well. The only downside to them is, I find it really really weird when I see an animal-like race (cat/frog/wolf etc), wielding a weapon of any kind. Even if they look more human or not. I dunno, just me probably. But I actually like their lore and stuff, from what I've read of them.
Argonians look really nice too, but don't know much about them. They got a huge improvement in terms of looks, in Skyrim. I'll probably play one in a 3rd play through or something.
I guess the reason I find choosing hard is...Nord just fits the setting so well. I mean, wouldn't it be weird a Dark Elf (or Khajiit seems even weirder) comes by and is a Dragonborn and hero? Or maybe I'm thinking too much into this.
Never really had a tough time choosing in previous Elder Scrolls...I mean Cyrodiil (I probably spelled it wrong) I guess was "Imperial" based. But it was the capital of the land, so it made sense a lot of races would go there for whatever purpose. I forgot what race Morrowind focused on, been too long since I played. But I just chose whatever.
Where as, Skyrim seems really heavy Nord focused. But maybe I haven't read enough of the lore (since I don't really want spoilers, but maybe I need to read a bit more).
Well guys, what do you think? I guess Nord doesn't make much sense for stealth...but what about Khajiit or Dark Elf? Does it make any sense for them to arrive and be a Dragonborn and hero of the Nords? I mean this is like a sandbox style game almost, so I guess it is my choice...but I have a hard time picturing a Khajiit being dragonborn (and they are from way down south)...a bit easier to picture a Dark Elf as one.
And after re-reading this...this seemed more like a bunch of rambling. Sorry. Guess that happens when one first wakes up and doesn't have his coffee yet ;P *goes to make coffee*...hopefully this makes sense to someone, lol.
