Nord Warrior Roleplay advice!

Post » Fri Aug 10, 2012 2:26 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm currently starting my first playthrough, and I want to go Nord warrior. I like to semi-roleplay in TES games, as in I don't necessarily create a story, but I like to play the character how they're "meant" to be played lore wise. For example, not doing an Orc mage, or an Altmer Warrior, etc.

I'd like to play a stereotypical "good" nord warrior character...join the Stormcloaks, fight for my homeland, help those in need. My trouble comes from my build ideas. Nords get +10 to 2 handed weapons, and a bonus to light armor. Both of these things I don't really want to use, but being a masochist I battle with that idea of playing the "true nord."

I dabbled in the idea of going light armor/two handed, however I plan on making my 3 bread and butter TES characters (before getting TES fever and going back and modding Oblivion and Morrowind again afterwards):
-This nord warrior (Heavy Armor? One Handed?)
-A Wood Elf theif (Light armor, Archery, Sneak, Lockpicking, etc)
-A High Elf Mage (Robes, ....magic =P)

So as you can see, if I don't go heavy armor with this character, I'll overlap with the Theif which won't be as unique. So that one is most likely what I'll do.

So does the idea of a heavy armor, one handed weapon shield weilding Nord sound legitimate to you guys? I know it sounds silly asking, because it is, but this is what my mind goes through =P

TL:DR: ^^^

Thank for any input and thoughts!!

I've got a 1h, sheild, heavy armor, archer of a female nord at the moment. It never sounds silly to ask. The character I have now Arieal is going to do Companions & CW on the Stormcloak side and part of MQ ( just enough to get dragon's) Then probably all the Jarl's quest's, but not buy all the houses. Plus their are a couple quest's that I want to do that I know I haven't gotten to that she fit's into doing.

i did a sword and board heavy armor nord as my first character in skyrim, bout as generic as a dovahkiin could be...hes probably my favorite character. Also the leveling is such that if you want to switch its pretty easy to do

I play as a dual wield resto nord, switching between expert and master difficulty.
Pretty interesting to play, since you ussually need to think how you'll engage certain mobs.

Other character is destruction/resto and unarmed warrior(similar to a monk)

Just keep in mind that you don't really need to join the Stormcloaks if you don't want to. Plenty of Nords maintain loyalty to the Empire and view Skyrim being part of the Empire as being the best thing for their homeland. That's why there's a Civil War going on, after all. I don't think either side should be considered "standard" for a Nord character with this in mind.
