Nordic Puzzle trap wont work properly.

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 5:44 pm

I'm trying to set up one of those puzzles where you rotate the pillars, then a switch opens a door, and if the pillars are wrong it doesn't open and you're littered with darts.

I looked at the one in Bleak Falls Barrow, and set mine up indentically. Yet when I pull my switch, no matter what I'm pelted with darts, AND the door opens. Every single time whether the pillars are set right or not.

I know that makes this hard to diagnose, but any ideas? I've been tweaking and checking it over and over and it's always exactly the same. :/

I THINK one of the Warehouses has one, AV?? They are usually easier to take-apart/copy

(careful, my CK not open, I may be mis-remembering)

It reads like an Enable-Parent issue, maybe?

I searched the warehouses but I may have missed it, I'll check again. I don't think it's an enable issue as there is no enabling. Only checking and activating on the scripts part, which should be all automatic...

No you didn't miss it. Sorry my fault. My CK open now, it's not in there

I'll take a look at the one you found and see what I can see.

Hang on a mo ...

And so ...

In cell "BleakFallsBarrow01" there is a portculis (under all the orange rope things ... on the ground floor bit).

It has 2 Activate Parents: NorLever01 (the lever INSIDE the portculis!) AND BFBPuzzleDoorActivatorREF (which is a red X-Marker outside of it)

And so I would imagine in the SCRIPT on the relevant QUEST (which quest is this used in, do you know AV and I will go confirm?) that BFBPuzzleDoorActivatorREF is activated/enabled when the actual Pillar is set to the correct position???

(if you know the quest let me know AV and I will check it out)

Turns out I had a varient of the script on my lever, I've swapped it out so we'll see if it runs now... The other script had 7 extra lines, who knows what they were breaking.

Doooooooooh!!!!!! The lever is the one on the SOLVED side of the door. God I'm an idiot, I had linked the door to my trap lever, no freaking wonder it was always opening it.

My only concern now is that the darts went off whether it was solved or not, meaning the solving part doesn't appear to be working, but we'll see. I'll test this now that I've stopped being a moron with the levers. xD

Okay, the door doesn't open every time now, but the darts always occur and the door never opens, which suggests that the puzzle is never 'solved'. I set the pillar number to 2, have both pillars set with a start and solved state, and linked them both to the switch...

EDIT: Nevermind... At some point the CK decided to remove a link from one of my pillars. I've linked it now and it should work...

I haven't set up one these types of puzzles yet, however I have done a ton of puzzle doors with the rings. I am going to guess on this but it sounds like you might have a script setting wrong. There is a setting with puzzle doors that will allow for this type event to happen. So you might want to go through your scripts and check them out.

My two issues where that I linked the trigger switch to the door, thus always opening it, and one of my pillars got unlinked at some point so it was never 'solved'. After un-parenting and relinking it worked no problem.
