not being able to go into enemy zones

Post » Sat Aug 17, 2013 7:48 pm

ok so the devs said that once u turn level 50 you'll be able to visit the enemy zones, but why level 50? i remember one of my WOW memories as an alliance going to scarlet monastery and the feeling of being a low level player venturing into enemy zones thrilled me. i just think world exploration shouldn't be limited to your factions zone as you're leveling i want to be a mid level player venturing to dangerous territory and get owned by a high level opp, well i dont like that but i want the option of that being there, that thrill of danger being around the corner. If we venture into enemy territory at 50 we'll be high level anyway so there wont be any sense of danger.

At first, you could not even go into the enemy zones at all. Then they said you can go in at 50, but could not give the details of why. All we know is that when we are there, we will not see the enemy players at all.

This is not likely to change.

Both my initial and current thoughts on the subject are that the lack of Open World PvP (there's only instanced PvP, like in Guild Wars 2) can only damage the game. I do remember reading somewhere that a dev, or someone with authority at least, said that they'd consider adding Open World PvP into the game in the future.

The 50+ and 50++ versions are like the end-game raid content... you get to play through those factions' battles and zones in increasing difficulty etc adding progression beyond level 50 in your starting faction zone cluster. I don't think they have flat out said you cant go to the other areas but I think they are each designed from a certain perspective with different story elements... on the whole this is one thing we will have to wait and see about, my advice, make an alt and play it frequently and then chose the alt's faction to be your 50+ zone cluster and see if its the same or different. Short of that I don't know that you would be able to tell.

By saying the PvP is instanced, then the PVE must be completely instanced as well see as they both break up the playerbase into instances,

Cyrodil is open world PvP. There is PvE there including quests and dungeons, and many more pvp objectives than just zerging to take keeps. I suggest you look in to early DAoC for what it will be like.

There is no pvp outside of Cyrodil because they want Cyrodil to be the main focus of the pvp. This has the effect of protecting the low levels while giving the gankers, griefers and pvpers a place to do those things.

well if they implement non cyrodil world pvp the low levels will be safe as long as they don't venture outside their home territory

You can look at it as the enemy provinces are their home territories (they really are). The only non home territories are those in Cyrodil and the other factions. In this day and age just be happy you are getting Open world PvP in Cyrodil as the open world pvp concept is a niche one that many companies don't want to risk.

I think this is the smartest thing they could have done... because

a) Open PvP is not an option because 90% of MMo players cant stand continously being ganked-

B) this ay they save the majorrity of content for max level (2/3th of the PvE world)

c) by having 3 really competitive sides, they boost Alliance pride, as was seen in DAoC RvR.
