Not being treated as lord of this court

spoilers

Why is that when you kill harkon (and have sided with the vamps) and replace him nobody treats you that way?

I agree. Looking back it seems like there should be more to it.

If you could add something in, what would make you feel like "Lord of Volkihar Castle"?

?

Really? I don't know what game you lot are playing but the vampires have different initial dialogue when you beat harkon well only orthjolf and the two generic vampires don't say anything new.

This is from th top of my head

When harkon is around

Vingalmo say something to the effect about respect and you are welcome here.

After Harkon death

Vingalmo:I live to serve

Fura: None can deny your power now.

Before harkon death

Vampire who handles the forge(Forgot her name):I keep the forge running day and night just in case lord harkon needs it

After harkon death
Vampire who handles the forge(Forgot her name): I keep the forge running day and night just in case you need it.

Congratulations. You are now the lord of Castle Volkihar. Your underlings secretly resent you and are plotting to dispose of you and take over your position behind your back, just as they were when Harkon was lord.

Hey it makes undead life interesting! If they did not actually try and take my position I would be rather disappointed in them actually.

Yes.

And the dialogue does change after you defeat Harkon. You can also [SPOILER] order the the passageway to the courtyard to be re-opened.

BTW how did I do that cool spoiler box thing?

"The Castle is yours, we will aid you as you attempt to spread your influence throughout Skyrim."

You are definitely the owner of Voklihar post-Dawnguard. However, of course, Bethesda fails to deliver the real experience of being the leader.

"The Castle is yours, we will aid you as you attempt to spread your influence throughout Skyrim."

Almost everyone misses this quote right here. Those that argue that someone else is lord, missed this.

It is said very... well not epic like at all. There is no ceremony, there is no sensation of power, and it's said so casually that you overlook it like, whatever. No one else comes in to congratulate you or anything.

I would want the people kneeling at my feet swearing loyalty as the room turned pitch black and the glowing eyes grew brighter....

Give me a ceremony, bring me to Molag Bal who will make me a pureblooded vampire! Something interesting. Not, "oh you're lord now, goodbye."

Yes some lines change but I'm also told "don't come too close or I'll rip you arms off". Doesn't make me feel like a lord really.

I would love for an add-on in where you have to rebuild the castle to its former glory(except for just clearing out one hall) and deal with scheming underlings. I would pay for it as I love the general atmosphere but did not really like the actual story that much.

Imagine rebuilding those docks and managing your own slave/blood market, throwing big court parties, finding out which of your underlings tried to nail your coffin shut and toss it in the fire while you were resting, extra quests for Molag Bal etc.

And yes a small cut-scene or something would have been nice too! After all is said and done the ending feels so anticlimatic. It deserves so much better.

What I would love is random new small villages added into the game, which are respawning villagers.

Just run in for blood runs, make cattle limited and make it so you have to go in so often with some vamps or send them in by paying them off to restock the cattle.

Make it so you can just run in and start battles and so on and so forth.

TBH, I went back around a dozen saves and went with the Dawnguard. Siding with them is much more rewarding IMHO. Armored Huskies>Undead Dogs. Oh, and the armored trolls that you can buy are really cool too.

The "vampire" thing just really doesn't fit with the character I play. He's an active man who loves the wild with a great soul, and although he uses the darkness to an advantage, he doesn't want to become bound to it. Becoming a vampire would basically make him a polar opposite of what he is, so I didn't go for it. Not to mention, the abilities of the Vampire Lord were very overwhelming.

I have never understood this fascination with wanting NPCs to kiss your grits.

EDIT: "Grits" was originally a very different word which sent the message I wanted, but let's play it safe lest someone take offense...

It's more like; I wanted more depth to the vampire quest-line, and Bethesda failed to deliver?

I wish I could kill Orthjolf and Vingalmo. Despite being Master of the House, they still treat me like trash. And giving them an arrow to the knee just doesn't help.

This. ^^

It would have been cool to have some sort of ceremony.

But you know, what can we expect?

After killing Alduin and saving the world, I just walked away and did whatever.

There wasn't any heroes ceremony or anything.

But still, the DB ending made it clear that you were in charge even without the ceremony.
If nothing more they could have simply done that.

Exactly! Whatever faction /guild you become head of you're still treated as the new kid on the block!

Meh. I'd rather be pureblooded to get recognition. Maybe a summon Molag Bal cutscene . . .and you know what happens next.
