I love the elder scrolls. yet something in my head is telling me not to buy skyrim, and to get Dark Souls instead. i am not sure why, skyrim just does not seem to appeal to me suddenly. but oblivion did not either. i had the choose of it being easy enough that i would never die, or the game would become unfair and kill me in ridiculous ways. i want a true challenge, and one with atmosphere, and that what Dark Souls is for me. could you try to talk me out of it? i feel like i will be missing so much! :cryvaultboy:
that i can't do, i'm buying RAGE as well because two fantasy setting RPGs would be a little much for me. (was going to buy BF3 but decided nothing was new, did not excite me too much)

As a self claimed hardcoe gamer I take extreme offense to that

Nothing was new in BF3? Have you played the beta yet? EVERYTHING is new. Now if you replace BF3 with MW3 I can see what you mean. In fact ^^^Fixed
I really don;t see what is the appeal of Dark Souls. Everyone I've talked to who played it says it's infuriatingly difficult to the point where they wonder if the game is just intentionally [censored] with them. I paraphrased but that's my idea formed by the many similar opinions given to me.
Dark Souls, a japanese game about "medieval rpg", sounds good. If you want a good open world rpg from expirienced developers, buy Skyrim. If you want to be a part of experiment, buy Dark Souls.

it is not that there is no new content, (yes i am playing the beta), i just does not have the strategy BF2 had since the map is so linear and there is not commander mode (commander mode was the main reason i loved BF2). but let's not turn this into a flame war.
Buy the one you're most interested it and play it to your heart's content, and when you're done and looking for something new and have the money, get the other one. (we all know you're gonna buy Skyrim anyway sooner or later  ) Bethesda is not going to hate you for not buying Skyrim on 11.11.11.
Why would I care if you're not buying it? Let alone try to convince you to buy it? The money from your possible purchase isn't bound to reach my pockets so it's all the same to me if you buy or not..
The hell? Man... just buy Dark Souls if you must , and play it untill 11.11.11 and then go trade it in at best buy so you can get Skyrim for like.... $20 or something

I think it's because they tried a little too hard to appeal to both their fans and CoD fans. But really who wants CoD fans playing your game....yuck. It's still quite fun and I'd recommend you give it and Skyrim a second shot. Or don't, it's your damn money.
