It not Consecutive playtime that starts the lag

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 7:01 pm

Level 26 30 hrs 8mb

this is all within 1 hr of playtime:

I use light armor and sprint alot in the open world. Pretty much the whole time I'm sprinting the game lstutters to what seems to be the open world loading.

Everytime an box loads into my vision while running the game stutters.

If i'm riding a horse, with a dog and companion following the game stutters.

Multiple NPCs and me fighting a dragon stutters the game an causes textures to not load.

My shout will not work sometimes even if it's charged.

Almost every city will cause stuttering and lag especially if I sprint through the city.

Conversational option selection either lags or does not recognize input.

Issues get worse as I go along.

The problem is the number of places you've discovered (such as towns and dungeons). Not the amount of time. Sticking around a handful of towns without going to new places will slow/stop your save file size. (See the thread I started for exact details).

Be forewarned, my solution won't help with a save file that's already too big nor will it allow you to do anything you want. It is just a recommendation to avoid certain things. There is no real fix except the patch.

Oh, be sure to compare your file size before and after! I don't know how much a single town would increase it.

I watch the size of the save file like a huge tsunami that get bigger as it hurdles towards me.

When you get to Riften, your save file will kill you. Don't go.

edit: @duckdown- try turning off autosave and then manually saving every hour or so, quitting, and then loading your recent save. Think of it as 'episodic' instead of a marathon play through. It has been working for me and I am 8mb 35 hours in. There is still stuttering, but it helped.

Heh, dont make the mistake of doing the Civil war quest chain if your file is 10MB or higher...boy did I learn that one the hard way.

Great, that encourges me with my findings (http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1284052-i-can-verify-the-problem-and-a-temporary-solution/). I've also been staying with just a few places so my save file isn't increasing.

Good data log; Agree the more you do the textures are impacted.
