"Not enough information" comments

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 8:00 am

I've been lurking the forums since the announcement, and I keep on seeing comments about 'We don't have enough information for you to say that, wait untill more information is released". And I'm fine with them, in some contexts. But there are 2 reasons they make no sense, some of the time.
1: You're making the same judgements yourself - I've seen plently of people say this, only to say everywhere else - sometimes even in this thread- that it will be the most amazing MMO ever and it will kill WoW and be played forever. How is this not the exacty same thing?

2: We have been given some information. For example, we HAVE been told it's a 3rd person, WoW(or GW) style combat system. This is the game-breaker for me, I wont play it like that. However, if I make a combat about how I don't like the combat system, I get told to wait for more information. What? That doesn't make any sense, I have all the information I need. Thats like saying to someone who hates cake to wait and see what type of cake it is. He wont like it if he doesn't like cake.

You don't know anything about the combat system other than its third person and will involve skills. So, yea, not enough information lol.

I think people who say "not enough info" and yet also say its going to be a great game, are the dedicated fans of the series. Not all of them say that, but I highly doubt someone who hates the series has said on these forums they will love the MMO.

In a way I feel the same. There's not enough info to judge yet, but of they do it "right" I'm sure I'll enjoy just another way to play in Tamriel.

If you don't like third person, knowing only that it is third person is enough information to know that you won't like it. If you like third person, then you need more information, because it is possible they could have added something in that you wouldn't like.

So, what you're saying is is that some people have been saying this will kill WoW?

I've been among the few to say "Wait and see." but I, and I'm sure others, certainly haven't been referring to TESO as the next God of MMORPGs. I consider myself neutral in this and just want to wait and see what ZOS have yet to show us, still (Such as gameplay videos and whatnot).

The second point I can agree with, as it's more of an "each to their own" situation, but the amount of threads that have been popping up with the exact same views (in this case, negative) have been suffocating this forum at times; especially in the early days.
