Not Long Now...

Post » Tue Oct 02, 2012 5:10 am

I've been looking forward to this game for a long time and now its finally just around the corner. Anyone pre-ordered it like me?

I've been trying to avoid spoilers of any sort by just watching the trailers and nothing else, but you can see how that went purely due to the fact that I'm on this forum...
Now I'm just looking for any info at all on the game before it comes out!

I know right? I actually just stumbled across it when I saw that a friend had linked the teaser trailer on facebook last year. I don't actually actively look for upcoming games - they just kinda get to me through the graqevine lol.
Usually when I hear about games from friends, I can usually trust that they'll be good - having the same tastes in games and all.

Ditto.
I know it hasn't been developed by Bethesda, but all the same - I have never really been disappointed by a Bethesda game off the top of my head. Whether its been made by them or just published.

Anyone been reading up on the game on other websites and stuff?

Ahahahahahahahhahaa. Sorry. Yes, so many sites. Reads and re-reads. And re-views. Around this time last year, Arkane had announced the "going dark" period. 6 months with bupkus. Villages were razed, entire libraries lost to flames. It was worth it though. Haven't said this yet but my body is ready. It is ready.

Glad you joined the party, UKs. :)

Lol. It's was a good coincidence then that I was avoiding spoilers during that time then :P

I found a nifty website - It doesn't have anything particularly new on it, but because its largely community run, people can just add stuff to the game pages so that everything can be in one place.

Check out the Dishonored section (I can't post links so I can't put the direct address in) It hasn't got everything, but I was gonna add stuff when I got the game and put walkthroughs on there.

How are you guys gonna play the game? Stealthily or go in daggers blazing? Or both maybe?

Thanks for the welcome by the way!

Just PM me the link and I can post it for you. You need a certain post count before you can write links in your posts.

I want to go for the works stealth wise first time around. If I end up hitting a wall often enough though, I'll change my methodology lol.

Always glad to have new people to shoot the doo-doo with.

Oh wow, thanks!

And yeah, whenever stealth is an option I always try my luck with it first - like with DE: Human Revolution, I was almost never detected on that

I look forward to tricking the poor fellas into killing their own men - that was one of the big things for me about this game!

I remember when I first heard of it, a game with a weird universe where you could posses fish and rats. I thought "I'll pass, that's too weird man!"
Then I actually saw their trailer and saw E3 and I was speechless. Next morning I pre-ordered the game and been drooling ever since!

This game is an amazing piece of art, it has everything I've ever wished for and I am certain, nomatter reviews nor critique, it will be a game I'll never forget!
CAN'T WAIT! (Trust me, those capital letters are an understatement of my excitement - if not the understatement of the century!)

You're a regular ray of sunshine -_-

Edit: Above statement aimed at whocares.

Anywho, when people were talking about different Playthrough styles, possibly coming up with unusual ones I wrote this (coincidentally during the arrival of a new member: a Troglodyte)

Animal Kingdom: You can only use Devouring Swarm in a particular context, Possession at low level, non-lethal takedowns, full-spec Agility, Dark Vision, and Healing. No man-made tools can be used. Your decisions have to be motivated by instinct and the mind of an animal. When you use Devouring Swarm, you have to occupy the mind of a rat and join in the crowd to emulate what would otherwise be a happenstance feeding. You can only use runes you find naturally like a dog bringing a stick back to his master and getting a treat for a trick well done. Charms can't be used unless they accentuate this theme, like the white rats being friendlier and replenishing mana when eaten. This reflects your acceptance and savagery as an animal. Food is the only thing you can use to heal yourself and that has to be found food beyond the regen available from Healing.

Edited it just now to reflect new information such as getting rid of powers that were folded into Agility (Celerity and Feather) and to possibly make it a little more viable (Healing). Thought about exempting the sword to emulate a claw, but the runes and charms already seemed like a compromise too much. I left the misconception of the runes to indicate my thought process, but in reality you can invest in powers without visiting the Outsider's realm (unless when they said you could do it during missions it was only when you visit a shrine).

It's a murky concept but I couldn't flesh out my first one:

Wizard of Oz: Use upgraded Windblast to kill people.

Now maybe if Arkane had put in some flying monkeys in this game, I could get some damn traction! Actually this just gave me a thread idea lol. It's stupid but could be fun.
