DO NOT SELL

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 2:08 am

Hey Guys

Just wondering if anyone has a list of items that i should not sell?. Maybe they are needed for future quests and whatnot?.

I'm sure i read someplace that the Armour from the thieves guild quests is needed to actually complete a quest later on?

So if that's the case, then is there anything else i should keep rather than sell?. With me being the looter/seller kinda guy.

Thanks.

There's a list of ingredients you should store if you're willing to do some sidequests.

Spoiler

20 nightshades
20 nirnroots
20 deathbells
10 fire salts
20 jazbay graqes

most quest items cannot be sold/dropped until the quest is complete so no worries there. as for other misc quests....can't spoil that here.....

Pretty sure anything quest related can't be sold.
But I'm the cautious kind, if anything seems unique at all, I don't sell it.

dAb covers the less unique stuff that is considered useful in side quests.
That is usually the only area where it helps to collect and store everything, sidequests which require you to collect some random things for them.

Also, a bit OT but I ran in to this recently and its worth passing along.

Spoiler

Don't have any Briarheart in your inventory when accepting "repairing the white phial" quest.

Or they may become un-useable/dropable etc, as well as not being able to complete the quest.

That is good to know. Id hate to sell an item which was needed later in the game.

Guess i will just loot n store until the said item is required. Then use and sell it, once im done using. That is assuming that its not a kick ass item off course.

This is true. Aside from that, quest-important items are all undroppable, or can be retrieved again (respawn)
EDIT:
And yeah, what dAb said, although Dragon Claws are of no use after you use them

Almost all the Essential Quest items cannot be sold. And sidequest items can be found elsewhere in the game, as there are multiple copies available (Specific gem kinds, or Necklaces of a givebn God).

That said, I do understand that there is a bug with the Thieves Guild. You are given a special enchanted armour when you join. DONOT SELL THIS. Because you WILL need it later to complete the Questline. Not saying HOW. But you will.

No idea why you'd NEED to sell it, but it'll put you in later difficulty if you do. And as it's relatively light armour it hardly dents your encumbrance much as it is, and can be stored in one of your houses if you absolutely must.

Don't sell (before you should)...

The Elder Scroll

As it can be a pain to get it back when you need it (without using a console command).

If it is a Unique Item, then someone somewhere may want it. Otherwise, do what you want with it.

As for Uniques, put them in a crate or chest that is safe until you need them or you are sure no one is going to ask for it.

I'd recommend keeping one of each flawless gems. They seem to be requested from time to time. And don't sell any item granted to you by any guild... you might need it in later quests for that group.

I guess i'm confused as to what is a Unique item and what isn't, seeing as the game doesn't really mention that in the items list when browsing through.

I've been worrying about this too. Items like Nettlebaine for example. They're just sitting in my inventory not doing much but I'm wary of selling it incase some errant priest shows up out of the blue and says "quickly, you must bring nettlebaine to fight the forces of evil to save Skyrim and that stable boy you fell for!" or something.

I should have mentioned that once you have used the claws you are free to sell them. As for the priests masks

Anything with a specific name, or any item you have not seen before should be saved. If you find a second one with exactly the same name, use your judgment. If you find a third, you should be good to sell them. Be careful, the left is not the same as the right...... lol

Here is a list of sellable items that you should stash

Spoiler

Daedra Quest: Troll Fat, Daedra Heart (also used in smithing)

Riften Alchemist: Ninroot, Deathbell, Nightshade

Riften Smith: Fire Salts

Riften Merchant: Ice Wraith Teeth

Blackreach: Crimson Ninroot

Windhelm I think: Amulet of Arkay

Marriage, Mara quests in Riften: Amulet of Mara (or buy another)

Smith in Markath Arkay’s Lost Scabbard (book)

I forget where: Song of the Alchemist (Book)

I forget where: Night Falls on Sentienel (Book)

Argonian in Riften market: Flawless Saphhires, Mamoth Tusk, Gold Ore

Ninroot Farm Jazbay Graqes

Whiterun Lady: Mammoth Tusk

Solitude: Chef's Hat (DB quest)

Arcane Forge: Uses a bunch of items like ruined books, brooms, papper, salts, hearts, gems, jewlery.

The Argonian in the bar in Riften wants other gems, but can't remeber which. 3 flawless Amethys maybe?
The centipede looking things with Falmar (charakus shells or something) are used to improve Falmer armor in smithing
The Dragon Priest's mask are all needed for a final quest, so don't sell or lose them
The Dragon Claws open locks, but not sure if they reset or not.
The Arcane Forge under Winterhold uses a lot of items also.

I believe you need 1 deathbell, 1 vampire dust, one flawless ruby, and one silver ingot for Peryite's quest. Luckily none of those are heavy so feel free to hang on to them till you need them. ^_^
